It's Creationists that have the problem with evolution. Most of them are Christian here, but other religions can be Creationists. That is the group to target. Unfortunately their science comprehension skills are lacking.

Oh yeah, they love when transitional fossils are found because then they have 2 more gaps to fill with more transitional fossils.

The neanderthal, cro magnon and such, where is the bones in between those species? Did you know they have proven that those species were infact 1 was a crippled man, the other was a monkey. They don't even have a full skeleton, just 1 maby 2 pieces. Tricks of the devil and evolutionist. Dinosaurs, different story. My theory is when God cast satan out of heaven, Jesus said in St. Luke 10:18, "And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven". I myself believe this is what destroyed the dinosaurs.

With respect to evolution, there are two flavors of Christians: first, those who take the creation tales as metaphors of some sort, recognize that evolution is a proven fact, and don't worry about dinosaurs and early hominid species. Second, those who want a literal interpretation of the biblical creation tales, observe (correctly) that these cannot be reconciled with evolution, and reject evolution as a result, attributing the success of the theory to happenstance, the devil, or other causes. Since evolution has been used for a hundred years to make correct predictions about natural phenomena, this stance doesn't make much sense. And with evolution now a proven fact, it makes no sense at all.

Let me first clarify that not all Christians view evolution as antithetical to faith. One particular paleontogist I've read about finds the glory of God revealed in the unfolding of the evolutionary process.

The majority of Christians, I would say, are intelligent people conversant with the current state of science on at least a "layman's" basis.

There are Christians, no doubt spiritual descendents of those who published the pamphlet "The Fundamentals" in response to Darwin's "Origin of Species," who cling to notion of Biblical inerrancy and creationism. They have developed elaborate methods of convincing themselves that the evidence is somehow false, some going so far as claiming that Satan planted the fossils to lead humanity astray. These, unfortunately, are the loudest of Christians, and give the rest the appearance of scientific illiteracy.

Would you care to explain how Neanderthal and Cro-magnon were ‘proven false’?

I can assure you that this would be big news in the science community because we have never heard anything about it. I encourage you to publish your findings in a peer-review science journal like the JOURNAL OF HUMAN EVOLUTION - so the rest of us can understand just what the hell you are talking about.

personally, I'm skeptical. I rarely believe something just because it's said. for all I know, the neanderthals and other "primitive humans" may have been clans of the surviving deformed peoples. for example, in most ancient civilizations, those who were diseased or drastically different in appearance were sent away in colonies. now if neanderthal man meats neanderthal woman, then you have a neanderthal family.

yes I believe dinosaurs existed. as for their age, I doubt that again. I read that carbon dating is only good for the first 60,000 years and if so, then a 180 million year old fossil may be off a bit.

How about those dinosaurs? We know they existed. I believe evolution is how God made the world. It's a process, and I believe that heaven is about evolution as well. The striving for perfection as God reconciles all that is his own in perfect goodness.

As far as the missing link goes, I think there was some "help" in this area. This explains the sudden development of man. Perhaps, this is when God decided to make man in the scheme of things...

The bible attempts to answer the question "Where did everything come from?" in a way that serves the purposes of its promoters. All the answers are wrong, but the promoters keep pushing the book because when people believe, they get paid.
