oh dear ariel, some misunderstandings here!!!
of course all of us seek medical help when it is necessary - why have so many misread your question??
i also send healing blessings, light a blue candle, use my herbs and essential oils if possible, and use positive visualisation.
blessed be

Why do "Christians" always ask "pagans" what they think? You use the word pagans the same way a racist person uses a derogatory term.
And it is not "for the enlightenment of the Christians that you ask this question."
You just asked something that dehumanized everyone that is not Christian. Perhaps you should be asking yourself how to become a better humanitarian, instead of asking what other people do when someone they love is ill.
We cry, we get angry, we seek medical help, we hug them, we grieve, we do all the same things you do. What an ignorant question to ask. We're all humans. We're all capable of the same emotions unless you're a sociopath or disconnected from your brain stem.
What do we do differently from a Christian?!?!?! I don't even know what you mean, but G-d forbid someone that you love should get sick. You probably wouldn't take them to a Jewish doctor, or a Hindu or Muslim one for that matter.

Some trouble with this question? Well, for a loved one who was ill, I would treat the person at home if it was just a cold or the flu, with the usual medicines that anyone would use, and consult a doctor if the illness progressed to the point that medical intervention seemed prudent.
The next part of your question was what do you do differently to a Christian? I wouldn't do anything different to a Christian for whom I was caring and who was sick. I would take care of the person at home with over the counter medicine and care, and call a doctor if it looked like that was necessary.
I don't treat illnesses differently based on their spiritual beliefs. I would, on a spiritual note, call upon the blessings and help of Mother Earth in any case of illness, no matter who it was, but perhaps silently for a Christian. No need to upset a sick person! if, in fact, that would upset them, maybe it wouldn't!
I would treat all the same, with compassion and appropriate medicines and medical care as needed.

Depending on how bad on an illness, seek medical attention. For a cold or simple flu I don't worry about it unless the fever is bad, but for worse things medical attention is usually the first course of action.
Secondly, reiki. Reiki is an energetic form of healing, used to heal both illness and emotional trama, but can also be used to help to promote the natural healing processes of the body to help them to heal faster.
If needed I would also employ some form of purification or healing ritual as well.

Along with all of the attributes that we pagans share, it has been said to never refuse a cup of tea from a witch.....
Personally, i do not discount modern medicine, but i do what i can to help on a spiritual plain as well as practicing Reiki, cold fire spells, group healing.....sending healing energy, and also, tend to use and take advantage of what is already at hand in the kitchen or on the altar. Positive affirmations as well have been a very good tool for me.
I am not sure if any of you are familiar with an author by the name of Louise L Hayes, but she has some wonderful solutions to all sorts of problems. Not to mention visualizations and meditation as well....there are many holistic remedies and spiritual remedies that can be used to complement modern medicine....if only we could all take advantage and use them more.
Just my humble pagan thoughts.....
blessings to all

As a pagan with over 2500 years of ancestry behind me, when a loved one is ill, I take him/her to the doctor (who fortunately lives very close by)..... Isn't that the obvious thing to do?
I don't know what christians do differently in similar circs but have heard tell that presbytarians or some such rot don't take medicine, but i don't believe it.
I thought that christian enlightenment was to come from christianity and not paganism?

Well I don't think pagans have any problem with going to doctors. That is just a given, however the churches my parents and Family attend don't believe in doctors.
I light candles and meditate on the illness or injury, do a little drumming using healing rhythms, and with y wife I lay my hands on her and bless her and send healing energy through my hands.

I probably do not take much of a different course of action than the majority of Christians out there.
If it seems to be something minor (common cold), I tend to go the chicken soup and hot tea route.
For something more important, like when my fiance had bronchitis earlier this year, I drove him to the doctor so he would be able to get a doctor's note for work.
Prayer never hurts, so I generally ask the Gods to help my loved one get better.....

I lost my faith in 'god' when I was saved by a Doctor as a teenager, but kids were dying of cancer all around me. Where did prayer get them? Why was I saved? LUCK and medicine.
Take care of yourself. Go see a doctor when you need to. That is my plan as a 'pagan.' Oh, and I would bring a Christian to a Doctor, also. I want them to live and survive, too. I am an agnostic, not the devil...

I would treat both the same. What ever I do for a loved one, I would do for a christian even though they think I am going to hell. Human life no matter who's it is is sacred and if possible it must be maintained. We are all a part of the web of life. It makes me sad when I see them wasting their energy on hatred and malice. But they have made their choice which is their freedom to do. I just wish they would give me the same respect.
