I am sure that there are those that do, but I fear there are more that do not and it would do them well to do so. I am Wiccan now but I was born into a Baptist family. I still read the bible from time to time to refresh myself on what it says although I don't follow that faith (and reading it usually reconfirms that). I wouldn't mind reading more about the Islam and Hebrew faiths to understand them better. I have studies a lot of the ancient religions: Norse, Celtic, some Babylonian, Taoism, and a little Buddhism. I like to find similarities between different faiths as this leads to true insight about our world.

Some do, yes, but this is against the best efforts of most of those religions, some of which state questioning is a direct violation of said religion. However, I was raised christian, and it was through study of many different religions that I decided on Atheism... so it would be contradictory for me to say that christians do not, however, I was never a particularily strong christian, I was always skeptical of the wild claims. I imagine that fanatical religious people will never objectively examine another religion as it would necessitate a certain level of detachment from their "little bubble", however, we can assume that some moderates will make an objective effort on some level.

For Christians it is a sin to look into other religions, especially paganism. I was born into a Christian family and most of my family are still Christians. Unfortunately for my Faith i am fascinated by History. Once i started reading and learning i realized that Religion is a tool and it uses the same stories with different faces to attain its own ends. I have read the Bible in its entirety since i decided i was not a Christian, i have also read most of the Qu' ran. I find serious flaws and the same old ancient stories, nothing to give me Faith.

Yes ...... I was born into a family which believed the many gods ..... then I studied Christianity ...... which I find it a hogwash, then I picked up Buddhism ...... never look back since ...... even now, I am studying other religions like Wiccan (Paganism), Hinduism, Taoism, Confucius, Shinto and others, but more interested in Eastern Religions.

Hindus definitely, and anyone in a branch of religious faith that is willing to be more comparative. Islamic Sufis are very willing to study other religions. A muslim library in Tehran has some of the most valuable and rare old Jewish texts in existence, and the members of the brotherhood study them.l

I happen to agree with Ariel on this one...i think that people who do not study any and all religions and spiritual paths have a danger of staying in ignorance and assumptions made through closed-minded people who actually have no idea....
I also believe that fear is also a motivating factor for many not to look at other beliefs....

They are so afraid of their God. Even looking into it (with no intent of worship) some see as a sin. I know this is not true for all but for many it seems to be.
