There is probably an aspect of your life yet that is hindering your prayers. God allows us to suffer sometimes because it draws us closer to Him. Praying does work but God's time is not the same as our time. You need to have faith in Him and let go. He will give you answers. Try joining a bible study so that you can learn how to use the tools given us through the bible. Life is not easier as a christian. I just can say that I have much more peace and I have someone I can unload my burdens onto so that I don't have to carry all that weight on my shoulders. Seriously, find yourself a good christian friend that can teach you how to pray and teach you the answers that are given to us in this area in the bible. It does take some time but don't give up. Without trials faith really means nothing. It's what we do when we are faced with these trials. Do we try to "fix" it ourselves or do we turn to Him. Good luck. I am a christian and have been for almost 3 years. I am still learning and calling upon my friends through church that are more educated on the bible than what I am. Read through 1 Peter. That whole book will uplift you and make you feel peaceful again. It is my favorite book of the bible so far. If you would like to contact me I will do everything in my power to encourage you in this new and exciting life you have chosen. I would not trade my christianity for anything in the world even when people insult me by saying it's not real. I have seen too many things that have been categorized as nothing but miracles.

Christianity isn't the only religion you know. Maybe you should try being an agnostic for a while so you can have time to explore your options. Maybe you'd be happier with a different religion, or no religion. I don't know you, so I can't say. But Christianity obviously isn't working for you so maybe you should think about other options

btw don't consider the years you spent being a Christian as "wasted". I spent 16 years in the mormon religion but I don't consider that time wasted at all. I would rather have that experience and know what I'm rejecting than have been brought up as an atheist my whole life and only know one side

Don't worry. You don't believe in God to begin with. You dearly miss your old ways. Just go back. As for me, when I came to the knowledge of God I have been absolutely the happiest Nothing has brought me down. Even reading what some people write here in Yahoo Answers does not discourage me. My fellow workers don't discourage me. You have to deal with your own situation. I'll pray for you. That's the best I can do. Sorry. A drowning man cannot be saved if he refuses to extend his hand for help.
Sometimes an unanswered prayer is still an answer. All it means is that it cannot go your way all the time. And most of the time it doesn't go your way because God is watching out for your best interest and not what you deem to be your best interest.

first, not all churches are equal. not even in the same faith. remember that a "church" is a collection of people, not a building. so look for a group that you can identify with.

remember to pray for only what you need, not what you want.

remember that God is not often going to interfere with free will. So don't ask him to. he won't make someone else "do" something. ask for help in changing yourself instead (when needed).

Don't blame God for the mistakes of man. God doesn't make the airplane mechanic get drunk the night before working on an airplane that later crashes, he doesn't make people decide to murder each other.

and of course, remember we were made in his image. that doesn't mean we all look like him. that means like him, we have the ability to love (volunteer somewhere people could use some one to talk to, or some attention), create (explore drawing, painting, modeling clay, singing and music), laugh (any way or form of making the world laugh is always rewarded), or destroy (this is the way most choose, not even knowing it it is the most likely to keep you from being happy). find which "gift" you were given, and explore that, then most importantly, find a way to share it.

Are you sure you were a Christian? Very important question. Just saying I am and then not living the life is not evidence of conversion or acceptance.
Are you waiting on God to do what He is waiting for you start?
Christians have trials and travails just like anyone else. Blaming God ain't the answer Kid.If you want positive things in your life do positive things and God will return your action with a positive reaction.
Are you acting on life or letting life happen to you? Try thanking God when you pray instead of whining to Him about what you want.

NOnoNOnoNOnoNO...
I don't know your situation, but I do know that God will "never leave you nor forsake you" ... Becoming a Christian does not take away life's problems, because life is life. Horrible things happen, great things happen.... whether you are a Christian or not. God doesn't promise us a life without struggle, but He does promise us strength to make it through. The trouble is, a lot of the time our trouble comes from people making terrible choices around us. Ones that God never intended for us. Please believe that God loves you because He really DOES! And I know that He will show you if you ask Him and really want Him too. I don't know what you are going thru but I would bet that people are involved somehow. These things are not God's fault, they are the weaknesses of human beings.... Other things such as house fires, floods, hurricaines and such are also just part of life. These things will happen to believers and non-believers, but can i ask you..

Do not fall prey to the myth that if you are a Christian, God will answer your prayers the way you want them answered and give you a free ticket through life.

It doesn't work like that. A pain-free, struggle-free life was never promised in the bible.

What IS promised in the Bible is the Grace and Strength to endure, and that He would be right there beside you every step of the way.

You've pretty much answered your own question, except for one thing: You are totally misinformed about what God is, what he does, and how he acts. You are having false expectations.
Try reading "Disappearance of the Universe" by Gary Renard, and see if it doesn't make a whole lot more sense to you that way.
It's the religion thing that is the problem, mainly. You don't need to give up using Christ as a guide, you just need to get away from thinking that religious behavior is going to solve the problems.
PS.. isn't it great.. momo916 says to you "good luck"! what kind of faith is that???? whew. typical response from someone who also doesn't know how things are really working on what we perceive to be earth.

Praying is about having direct connect with God !!

If Priest , or Pope acts as intermediate between you and God , then that is not praying !! maybe indirect praying !!

However, I believe you choose a religion (A way of life) where you have direct communication with one and only God !!

Nobody has the right to interfere in your life and know about your sins !! God Knows Everything and He Commands Everything !! May be , it is time you change your way of life and thinking !!

Human is err. However repentance to God is better than anything provided that thing is not done deliberately again !!
