I have ordered 3 free x86 linux ubuntu cd's from the official site. It said that the telephone number was required. So I typed it in and ordered the cd's. I wonder why it's free....Why do they ask for your telephone number? Do they give it to their partners that will tell me to buy stuff? I am curious to know. Will I get phone calls for ads? If you've had this experience or know about it please tell me about it.

Thanks

AFAIK they don't sell your phone number. I have a stack of those CDs I give out when i'm at events -- they sent them to me for free.
