"The Constitution shall never be construed … to prevent the people of the United States who are peaceable citizens from keeping their own arms."
Samuel Adams

He that hath no sword, let him sell his garment and buy one. Luke 22:36.

Among the many misdeeds of the British rule in India, history will look upon the act of depriving a whole nation of arms, as the blackest.
Mahatma Gandhi

The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.
Thomas Jefferson

Political power comes out of the barrel of a gun.
Mao Zedong

After a shooting spree, they always want to take the guns away from the people who didn't do it. I sure as hell wouldn't want to live in a society where the only people allowed guns are the police and the military.
William S. Burroughs

The best we can hope for concerning the people at large is that they be properly armed.
Alexander Hamilton

I ask, sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people, except for a few public officials.
George Mason

I don't know a one line statement but i do have a personal story.

I was at the local Wal-Mart a few years ago, looking at a Mossberg shotgun. A well dressed woman and her young son walked past. The boy said "look momma a gun!" to which she quickly replied "guns kill people!" and she started to drag him by the shirt in the opposite direction.

I was not pleased with her very moronic statement so i said "You people make me sick. I could load this shotgun and set it here on this counter and it could lay here a hundred years. Its an inanimate object. It won't hurt anyone until an idiot like you picks it up and uses it."

She gave me a "go to hell" look and walked away.

I guess her take on "gun control" and mine weren't the same.

"If guns are criminalized, only criminals will have guns."

Anyone who honestly believes criminals would surrender their guns to a sweeping gun-ban is living in a fairy tale.

Gun bans only serve to disarm, and thereby leave defenseless, honest, law-abiding citizens. Look at the situation in Russia right now. Citizens there are allowed very little, and quite restrictive access to firearms. The Russian Mafias, however, have illegal access to almost any guns in the Russian Army inventories. They prey mercilessly upon the citizens there, knowing that they have no means to defend themselves. It is of course, illegal for the criminals to posess these weapons, but they aren't exactly lining up at the police stations to turn them in.

How would putting our own country in such a position make anyone safer?

Ask a liberal.
It's interesting to see them squirm at the logic behind this one.

The whole idea sounds like B.S. to me.

Watched a special years back on Jessie Ventura aka "Jessie the Body Ventura" (pro wrestler) and during the interview, (which was at his home) I noticed a plaque over the fireplace mantle and restin' on it was a S&W Cal. 44 Magnum Model 29 with short and sweet one liner under it ~ "This is our 911"...

My favorite is one from Charlton Heston at an NRA rally where he holds a rifle in the air and simply says "From my cold, dead hands!" That's all he had to say to ignite the crowd of pro gun people gathered there. It gives me goose bumps every time I see it.

A less serious, but very funny one happened in a scene from "Family Guy" where a cartoon pistol is talking to a small child and says to him: "If you squeeze me, I'll make bad people go away." Hilarious!!!
