just wondering if anyone wanted to be penpals. i grew up (and live) in the us but was born in the commonwealth of dominica (its in the caribbean). i'm 24, liberal, free thinking, very open minded and artistically inclined :) I'm a practicing buddhist, LOVE to read and i'm hoping to take a trip across the pond in the next 6 months. so... hows about it? all are welcome to respond, thanks ;)

lola.. good luck in your search for a penpal...however (i'm sure you know this) just be careful!
I'm in my 30's! Years ago, in school, our class made penpals with a class in Canada. I was one of a few to continue the friendship for a while..to the point where I even attended my penpal's wedding and visited her a few times in Canada.
In those days (omg I sound old) we had to actually put pen to paper and send our letters via the post/air mail. Nowadays you would end up doing it through the net!
Giving an email addy is one thing..but giving personal details..ie home addy etc is another.
So good luck in your search, however, PLEASE just be careful and I beg of you.. that even although you mention the "penpal" word..you also mention you'd love to visit here (the UK) .. so I beg of you not to stay with the person you correspond with for 6 months.
Meet up with them, in a public place, certainly.. but please get your own lodgings..that way you are safer and owe nobody anything..if you understand what I mean.
