Where do I begin? What agencies do I have to notify? Do I have to get a new social security card. I have no clue where to start or what to do.

Social security first, DMV second, and you'll need to have your official marriage license with you for these. After these two things are taken care of, you can change over your banking info, credit cards, and any other bills/utilities your name is attached to. And, don't forget about changing your voter registration info and the name on your passport (if you have one.) It seems like a lot, but don't stress too much. I went to the SS office and the DMV on the same day, and got both of those taken care of in less than 2 hours!

Start with your Social Security Card.

Then your Drivers License

Start with these two places: Social Security office (you need to bring 2 forms of ID - drivers license/passport/social security card & your marriage license) & Driver's License office (where you also need 2 forms of ID & marriage license). Once you get your new license in the mail, you can go about changing your name on other accounts - banks, credit cards, student loans, work, etc.)

Start with Social Security first, DMV second, everything else afterwards. Always, ALWAYS have a copy of your marriage certificate (the original is what you'll need with SS and the DMV) for verification.

Congrats on your marriage!

Ask your officant for refferal or look online and you can get name-changing kits that have all the paperwork you need, step-by-step instructions, and information on things you will need new copies of like your drivers license.
