I was 300 pounds (im 23) and i'm now down to 260, so i know what it takes. it's ok to eat that stuff after a workout, but you should also make sure to get plenty of protein ( in grams about 50% of your body weight i.e. if your 200 pounds, you should be getting 100 grams of protein a day) bc that will help you build muscle, and the more muscle you have, the more fat your body will burn even when your resting. it's a myth that fat "turns into" muscle. It doesn't, it gets burned by the muscle for energy, which the body uses some of to help repair and build more muscle, so make sure you get your protein as well. if your interested in losing weight, make sure you count your calories. if you create a deficit in calorie intake of only 500-1000 calories a day (i.e. you eat 500-1000 calories a day less than you burn) you'll lose weight at about a 1lb or 2lb's a week, (3500 calories equals a pound of body weight), which is by far the healthiest way to lose weight. also, DO NOT go on a crash diet, make sure to EAT, make sure you get enough calories to keep your body running, because if you suddenly stop eating your body will go into survival mode and shut down the burning of fat, because it will think that you will need it to live on later because you have no food now. so EAT. you need energy, ESPECIALLY after a workout, so your body can rest and respond to the workout much more effectively, so you can eat an apple and drink water, but i would recommend a protein shake to go with it. and remember, it's ony 500-1000 calories a day you need to hold back on, so make sure you get your fats, carbs, proteins, calories ok? you need them all (in proper proportion) to lose weight effectively. i would HIGHLY recommend you see a doctor, but under no curcumstances should you take in LESS than 1200 calories a day, and i would recommend at least 2000. be smart, and you'll lose the weight and keep it off. Good luck!

Eat only when hungry and not more than thrice a day. Nothing other than water in between. Include plenty of uncooked vegetables and fruits in each meal, preferably 50%.
Chew each morsel at least 32 times. Do not touch articles of food or the cutlery in between. This will activate ur body to generate strong signals of hunger/fullness. Obey these signals.
Take light exercises and brisk walks (minimum 20 min duration) regularly preferably twice a day.
U will achieve what u have not even dreamt and that too in a reasonable time. Do not be in a hurry. It is however to be noted that one cannot change the shape or size of different parts of the body.

Water. DEFINATELY.
You need to hydrate yourself before, during, and after a workout.
I won't mention much about the apple since I don't know too much, but reducing calorie intake and increasing exercise works. An apple isn't that much and it is a fruit which is needed in daily nutrition, so I would say yes.
But eat and chew slowly. If you're hungry eat the whole apple. If you're still iffy about it, eat half.
Hope this helps. I can totally relate to the need to lose a lot of weight thing.

first.... YES, you can drink water DURING your workout also.... What I like to do is eat something very small beforehand.... like an apple, or an oatmeal bar (The TrailMix brand of oatmeal bars are great. An I'm talking about the brittle ones, not the gooey, covered in sugar ones).... I eat something very small like that about a half hour before I go workout so my body has SOMETHING in it..... and make sure to be hydrated.
Second.... whatever you do do not think that JUST running and JUST cardio is going to make you lose weight. You HAVE to lift some weights and get some muscle on yourself. MUSCLE BURNS FAT MORE THEN ANYTHING!!!! And trust me, getting a little muscular does NOT mean you'll look bulky or like a bodybuilder. You'll be TONED. I know that when I had a TON of muscle on me I could eat and eat and eat (granted it was all HEALTHY stuff).... and I wouldn't gain a POUND because my muscles NEEDED all that energy. NOW, I'm not so muscular, so I eat a lot less then I use to. also, when I do my weight training I usually drink this drink called Muscle Milk LIGHT. It's a special protein drink that helps build muscle. I drink it RIGHT after my workout so that my body uses the protein to build the muscle. AND I eat super healthy. LOTS of lean protein (Chicken, Turkey, Fish, Tuna).... and LOTS of fresh veggies and fruits. I don't drink pop, only water, milk and orange juice. AND I take a daily multi-vitamin.
If I get that muscle back and KEEP it (which means I have to keep training my muscles by lifting weights) I will be able to eat more because my body will NEED it. SEE, being in shape and fit DOES have major perks.... :)
Now you WILL have to do cardio stuff too, don't get me wrong, I wasn't trying to say that you should ONLY do weight training. Running for about a half hour to 45 minutes every other day whipped my butt into shape. It gave me ENDURANCE. Got my heart pumping, made me sweat, it was a GREAT workout. I prefer to run/jog outside in my neighborhood cuz there's hills and scenery. Treadmills bore me, but in the winter it's my only option. I alternate from walking to warm up, jog for about 5-10 minutes, walk a little more (speed walk).... jog another 5-10 minutes.... I keep doing this and keep pushing myself harder each time I run..... DON'T push TOO hard, if you get to the point where it's really hard to breathe you're going too hard and it's actually working against you. Work to the point that you're out of breath, but not where you're wheezing and feel dizzy.......
Good luck..... hope all this helps!!!!
(Check out this chick..... she's my idol!!!! I want to have her body!!!)

What are you trying to do, starve yourself. Of course it's healthy to eat an apple and drink water after a workout. Your body needs carbs for energy to burn if you workout. If not, you will have crappy non productive workouts that will get nothing done. What you want to do is avoid the simple carbs and eat the complex carbs which provide a lot of energy and doesn't cause weight gain.
The simple carbs are the processed sugars that are easily converted into fat

Apple and water have fiber in it and that makes you use the bathroom a lot so I say yes, Also you could drink water before, after, and during a workout that way you don't get dehydrated while excercising. I suggest when you eat the apple make sure you do it before 7:00Pm. I just want to add its not what you eat its really when you eat it. Like only eat when you're hungry unless you're eating a snack or want to stay on schedule.

Dont worry about the carb thing. Just work out regularly, eat light (water and apple is fine) and the weight will come off. Keep in mind that dieting only works short term. You have to make a lifestyle change. Start eating healthily on a permanent basis and you will lose and keep the weight off! Good Luck!

No, you need protein otherwise you lose a lot of the benefits you gained from the workout. If your working out in the morning its good to have an apple before the workout to give your body energy but afterwards your muscles need to repair themselves so your next meal, (which should be eaten within an hour from finishing you workout) should be high in protein. So go for an egg white ommlette or just a can of tuna if you don't have time to cook. If you just have an apple then your muscles won't be able to repair themselves as efficiently and your next workout will suffer as you won't be able to train as hard.

Eating an apple and drinking water is great after a workout. Your body needs the nutrition and eating something healthy after a good workout keeps your body nourished and it will also keep you from craving unhealthy snacks after you exercise. They say that if you crave healthy foods after you exercise than you had a good solid workout, but if you crave unhealthy foods, then you should kick it up a notch! Also, if you are really interested in losing weight, the best kind of workout is a cardio/weight combo. The cardio (jogging, power walking, bike) helps burn fat and the weight lifting builds muscle which boosts your metabolism.

I KNOW I KNOW!!
Water is ALWAYS good yes yes yes!!
And the apple is great after a workout! It is acidic and burns the fat cause there are little calories and it is actually so healthy!! And it will give you that extra kick of energy after a hard workout.
WAAAY BETTER than any carbs like a sandwich or treat.
Great idea!!
