You will not need cash money for the cruise ship. When you board the ship, or if you do it online before the cruise, you will have a cruise charge account set up in your name. Every passenger has one and you will be issued a "cruise card" which is your room key, boarding and egress pass, and charge card for any and everything you buy on ship, drinks, photos, tours, souvenirs, and gratuities at the end of the cruise.. The only place you may need cash is in the casino. And if you run out of cash you can go to the ATM on ship or go to the casino cage and get cash on your room account.
You will need cash for purchases on shore. So if you plan to do a lot of shopping take cash for that or better yet take a credit card for big purchases and a small amount of cash in small bills like one's and 5's to purchase things at the craft markets.

a couple hundred bucks and a credit card are all you need. You would probably need the cash for tips at the end of the cruise and for local souvenirs while you are on land excursions. Otherwise, everything you buy on the ship and the excursions could all be charged to your cruise account and you can settle them at the end of the trip with your credit card before you leave the ship.
Enjoy your trip.

me and my friend took $3,000 for spending money for a week on the Holland American cruise ship to the eastern caribean 2 years ago and it was plenty that was for 7 days for 2 of us and i am a souvenior freak and like to shp tip***** some of the best souvinors were the cheapest and best right on the cruise ship way better than the every day souvenior junk that the natives try to sell. Except for when i was in St Thomas i decided i didnt want to go with the cruise that day for the tour thing so i went independlt on the St thomas Island and I swear i found the best Kmart ive ever been too it was 2 stories had a escalater and had everything in there i came home with 5 bags like i usually do when i go go shopping here. it was so cool.
