i've had a cold sore for a couple days now. i've tried icing it and using carmex. that seemed to help a little but it wasnt completely gone so my mom got me this drugstore cold sore medicine it's in this glass tube with a little sponge applicator and u squeeze the glass and the medicine dampens the sponge and u apply it to ur lip. so i just started using that and it seemed to make the cold sore more noticable and redder and now it's all dry and it hurts. how can i relieve it and get rid of the cold sore? its really painful

Firstly you cant get rid of it, it will go when it has heeled....the scabbing is good, that means its healing. the quicker it scabs the quicker you will get rid of it. Sometime you can use metho to help dry it our quicker. i use this!! I get cold sores a fair bit so i am an expert now!! Haha
Its best to get active on the coldsore as soon as it appears. now that you have had it for a few days you just going to have to wait for it to go....keep putting carmex on it....this dries it out which is what you want.
When you first feel the tingle next time, yes put ice on it....keep it on it like all day!!! keep icing it- it will stop it from coming up, also you can take lysine tablets (vitamins) they are for coldsores. when you get a cold sore. take double what the amount is---trust me, it wont harm u cause their jst vitamins.
