So many posibilities, so many factors you haven't mentioned.....
I am guessing you are teenagers??
Cancer is probably the least likely posibility.
If you are sure this is abnormal, and not just one of the many protrusions that we all have on our spine, then she should see a Dr and get an accurate diagnosis, particularly if it is painful.

It could be a cyst or a tumor. Cysts are nothing to worry about, just horomonal and filled w/ a fluid. They will either go away on their own or need to be drawn out w/ a needle and syringe.
I noticed the same thing on my breast... Turned out to be a benign tumor. (I'm having it removed surgically) I would have her see a doctor asap, as it could be anything. It's better to catch it before it develops into something worse.

WHERE on the spine? And how big is it?Are you sure it isn't just a normal spinal bump, or maybe her tailbone? It could even be as harmless as a calcium deposit. Don't jump to conclusions before assessing the details.
