Hi there. Projectors with short throw lenses are available with minimum projection distances from 1.1 up to 2.3. 1-2 : 1 means the projector needs to be one to two meters back from the screen for a one metre image .2-3 : 1 means the projector needs to be 2 to 3 metres back from the screen to view a one metre image.Special lenses are available to attach to your projector lens to increase the image from the same distance. If you have the projector mounted on the ceiling make sure you get one with a "lens shift "feature. Which means you dont have to angle the projector down. The projector should be perpendicular to the screen to avoid a distorted image. The lens shift feature moves the image up or down while the projector is pointing straight ahead.

It really depends on the projector. At 6-7' you will most likely want a projector with a very short throw lens. A great website for this is: www.projectorcentral.com

They've got a nice looking calculation tool that lets you estimate the screen size and throw distance of a given projector based on the manufacturer's specs.

If you have to angle the projector to get the image where you want it you will have to use keystone correction to square up the image, however, this will degrade the image somewhat so I suggest keeping the keystone adjustments to a minimum. Some projectors also have a feature called "lens shift" that allows you to move the projected image vertically and/or horizontally without having to resort to keystoning. Keep in mind though, that the majority of consumer projectors don't shoot exactly straight, that is, the center of the image does NOT correspond to the center of the lens. Often times the center of the lens corresponds with the bottom of the image, especially with business projectors because they are meant to be table mounted. In my case I had the projector ceiling mounted but had to point the machine UP a bit to keep the image from partially projecting onto the floor (118" image). I then used very little keystoning which was unnoticeable with video material. Again, check out projector central. Lots of good information on that site and user comments.

With out knowing what projecter your looking at you really cant answer that question becasue all projecters have different throw distances. Most of them will list that in there specs in there manuals that you can find online, but your really not going to get much of a picture at all from any projector that close. You would be much better off getting a plasma or lcd tv and hanging it on the wall. Also to get the best picture with out it being distorted the lens of the projector should be somewhere even with the screen usually the top or bottom. You could aim it down and then keystone the picture but that will really distort the picture and make it look bad.

Using a projector in an office setting is also beneficial in that the person in charge of the meeting can keep the employees and attendees occupied throughout the meeting. When simply having to listen to someone speak for an hour, the crowd may become restless. However, those business owners who provide visual aids throughout the meeting are more likely to keep everyone interested and attentive throughout the conference. Buying a projector for business purposes will truly help out in this fashion and make the overall meeting that much more interesting overall.
