The doctor tells me not to worry it will slowly tear apart as he goes through puberty and has more erections. However my son who's 7 realizes his penis looks different than his friends. Does he need recircumcised?

Why do some people think that circumcision is neccessary for baby boys? It is genital mutilation. There are no benefits to it in this day and age unless he has a medical condition when he is older (unlikely), the chances are that it can be cured without a circumcision anyway. It is quite possible that you have scarred your son's penis for life now ... c'mon people - stop circumcising your baby sons! It's not yours to make a decision about. He is your son - not your property!

I would go with your doctors advice on that one. It can actually happen with males who are non-circ'ed and the best course of treatment is erections and actually playing with it as they get older. If you are worried about whether or not this is right, then you should go see another doctor.

I agree with Anna R. My pediatrician gave me the same advice and I had to this for quite a while after the procedure as my sons foreskin seemed determined to reattach itself! I would get a 2nd opinion.

I don't know...you may need a second opinion....

My ped told me that I had to push back the foreskin every time I bathed my son from infancy on to prevent this...I can't imagine why your doctor didn't tell you this...it's only natural for it to grow back ("heal") if you don't push back the skin on a regular basis.

My advice: See and ask another doctor.

What you should be worried about is WHY your son is seeing other mens penises. That's not normal, he's 7. Check with the father, this might be a pedophile crime!
