You need to crate train this puppy asap or he is going to take over! You need to get a crate and this is where the puppy will sleep at night. During the day he'll be in there and you take him out every 2 hours. Do not put food or water in there. When you let him out give him water first and then put him outside and tell him to potty or whatever you want to call it. Once the puppy goes give him a treat. Play with him just have some fun. Never let the puppy have full run of the house if you can't watch him put him up (back in the crate). Before you go to bed play with the puppy and make sure he has gone outside and done his business. Then put him back in the crate. When the puppy gets older and has all the shots, get him enrolled into an obedience class. It will good for the whole family. You'll learn a lot there. Since this is your first dog, it's a must!Just remember a puppy is a lot of work at first, but it get better and all worth it when you get the end result a good dog! All the best;~)

Please put the cat food where your puppy cannot reach it. Please do not let your puppy have people food until you learn a little more about having a dog. There are some things that dogs can be poisoned from eating.
Please join the Start Puppy Training list here on Yahoo. It's free and there are a lot of great trainers on there. There is lots for you to learn and that list will help you a lot.

crate training is the best way to train a dog. They actually accept this as their home and a place to call their own to go where no one can bother them. Great for house breaking them too. As they get older, i have know to take the doors off the crate and they actually use this as their "own space" where it's off limits to humans.

Great way to disicpline too. Also adding raw hide toys to deter the destructive behavior too. They all need toys to chew on the bring in the new second row of teeth. If you don't provide puppies with things to chew on, they will chew on things that they are not susposed to chew on, like your puppy is doing now. Make sure they are large enough that they can't swallow small peices.

Good Luck1

particular it is going to take it sluggish, she remains so youthful. in basic terms attempt taking her out each and every hour in the previous each and every little thing, and then while she gets relatively older circulate out each and every 2. Being consistent is the main. yet be arranged, injuries are going to ensue, probable a lot in the previous each and every little thing. in case you do no longer capture her in the act pottying in the abode, there is little need in telling her no, because of fact as quickly as you spot it and scold her, she won't understand what she is being scolded for. do no longer rub her nostril in it or something like that. yet once you spot her going tell her no, take her outdoors and tutor her that's the acceptable place to potty. sturdy success!

Dachshunds are nearly impossible to housebreak. I had one once. Wonderful, sweet dog, but dang it, she never did get the idea of peeing outside.

Hopefully, your half and half pup inherited the pit side for housebreaking.

Ok, I'm confused. Isn't "Datsun" a company that makes cars??? (Nissan in the U.S.).

Well, anyway...... Take him/her to an obedience class, stock up on dog training books, and take slow, deep breaths.......

are you for real? a pit bull crossed with a dachshund? I have trouble with that one. however, assuming that you are serious, I recommend a really good obedience class. you're up the creek on this one.
