It doesn't matter how much the US gave Israel. Heres what I mean. If the US didn't support Israel nearly has much as we do now then ever Muslim country will rain bombs on Israel. The whole world will want justice and will come to Israels aid. Look at the Gulf War. Kuwait was invaded by Iraq and the world responded not just the US. Everyone will symapasize for Israel and then there will be a huge war. Most likley the western nations like the US, England, Japan, and many other advanced countries will destroy the middle easts militaries. This will make problems with oil production which will hurt the world economy. Followed by sanctions that will cause the Middle East to be in poverty.
So lets rephase your comment about the US trying to start trouble its actually trying to prevent it.

The 30 Billion is spread out over 10 years as foreign military aid to Israel. The US has contributed 3 Billion in aid over the last 10 years, and is an integral part of the Israeli-US military cooperation. Israel has invested interest with the United States in many Defence initiatives including the Arrow Anti Missile Missile, The Falcon, UAVs, The Chemical Laser Technology, Nano Technology, close in weapon technology, and Anti Terror Technology just to name a few. So its not just about defence its about income to the Israeli economy, and the aid is part and parcel of the deal.
The other thing to keep in perspective here is that the US has recently packaged up Multi Billion Dollar Defence deals with Egypt, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar and Jordan. Much of the acquasitions are Attack Helicopters, Frigates, Missile Boats, Patriot Missiles, Fighters, Tanks, Radars, Anti Aircraft Missiles, and the list goes on. Much of the purchasing has come about by the oil rich countries who can afford huge amounts of money to purchase military hardware, whereas Israel being a small democracy in that region relies on its Defence Industry to manufacture hardware for the world market along with the sino US technology that Israel enjoys with the US.
I think if Israel has a land mass about the size of Massachusetts and has gone through 3-4 major middleeast wars and won, then the United States has a vested interest in keeping the State of Israel armed appropriatly as a deterent. Also remember that there are alot of jewish people in very high positions in Washington who would want to see there own country looked after and helped when the need arises.

They've been giving that kind of military aid to Israel for the last 30 years & it's always used to start more trouble in the Mideast. It's basically the US giving the 51st State of America military aid.

I feel just fine about it. Israel is our only ally in the Middle East. Besides, it's not a gift, it's a loan. Israel is one of the few countries in the world to ever consistently pay us back.

That is nothing new. America and the other four permanent members of the U N security council (responsible for promoting peace in the world) are the biggest arms dealers in the world.

I do not think we should have done it. We should cut off all foreign aid right now as we need the money at home. Charity is fine when you can afford it. Our financial situation has changed and we can't afford to do. We should apologize and give again if and when we can.
We can't seem to control our own leadership. They do not have the approval for the war or our spending. I think the check/balance system has failed.

Israel has been leeching off the USA since it's inception.
Therefore I don't consider $30b to be anything of special interest. There has been money flowing into Israel pretty regularly from what I understand for decades.
