In this dream a great tall man came to me, he wore a long black coat and a hat like the Pilgrims used to wear...he told me not to worry about what the Bible said, that it was not important, that what was important was understanding God in a personal way, having an experience with God and communing with Him...that a book of rules and regulations wasn't important...not to argue and fight about it...but open up and hear God at the Source...this tall man said I would be hearing from him later and to be listening for him...so...what do you think???

It sounds like You have a new understanding of your personal relationship with God.

How do we learn to do that? Bible.

The Bible is so much more than a book of rules and regulations, the Bible is how we get to know and understand God on a personal basis. The man was mistaken, when he said that the Bible was a book of rules and regulations. While some parts are that, there are many others that reveal who God is and His qualities.

I don't agree that the man should be take as literal.

I wouldn't believe anyone who says to disregard what the Bible says. Having a personal relationship with God is CRUCIAL, but one of the most important ways God informs and enlightens us about Him is His word.

This is what the Bible says:

"But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent's cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ. For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough."

"And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light."
II Corinthians 11:3-4,14

"I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned! As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned!
Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ."
Galatians 1:6-10

Jesus said: "See to it that no one deceives you."

Please test the spirits.
John tells us how:

"Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.
You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world."
I John 4:1-4

Now about spiritual things, brothers, I do not want you to be ignorant. You know that when you were pagans, somehow or other you were influenced and led astray to mute idols. Therefore I tell you that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, "Jesus be cursed," and no one can say, "Jesus is Lord," except by the Holy Spirit."

I Corinthians 12:1-3

So if this spirit does not confess Jesus Christ as having come in the flesh, and as Lord, it is not of God, but is a deceiving spirit.
Refuse it in the name of Jesus.

I don't believe this was from God. God would never tell anyone that the Bible was not important.

listen to the tall man, for he is a manifestation of the term common sense, but do not trust the tall man explicitly because after all he is a man, and what man have you ever met could be trusted explicitly, not downing men, but hey = let us remain true to our nature eh?
