If you are considering suicide, it is a good idea to sit down with a therapist and ask for help. Often some small change can make a big difference in your outlook, and there is no reason to live an unhappy life. I'm not sure of your parents attitude, but there is nothing to be ashamed of in depression. It happens to all of us. The most important thing to remember is you can get better and there are things that can help, but you do need to admit to needing help.
Q: How many therapists does it take to change a light bulb?
A: Only one, but the light bulb has to want to change.

If the medication that your doctor prescribed to you did not work, you need to consider therapy. Talking to someone will help to ease your depression, whether it is your parents you choose to talk to or not. It would be hard to visit a psychiatrist without the knowledge of your parents, but certainly not impossible - also, you could ask about counseling in the guidance department of you school (most schools have anonymous counseling after classes end that would not be too hard to keep your parents from knowing about). If you are looking for free, immediate help, then there are national suicide hotlines that you could call that would be glad to help by talking to you, and offering advice. There are also great online sites where people who have gone through the same sort of thing will chat with you and try to help, which are accessible through any google search. However, I would recommend just getting it out to your parents how serious this is. If they start treating this issue with the concern it warrants, then it will ease your worries that much more. Depression is all too common in teens, so there is probably a better chance than you think that someone you know knows what you are going through and can offer you valuable advice.

I have been suffering from post partum depression for the past one year when I gave birth to a baby boy. I couldn't stop thinking about how my husband loves him more than me and how things might be better if he wasn't born at all. Thus, I stayed away from him because I knew that I might do something I will regret for the rest of my life.
Almost instantly I went to a therapist and convince them that I need help. Among other things, I've tried herbal supplements and other book to treat depression but nothing works like the Depression Free Method. So now I'm proud to say I'm one of the happiest mother in the world. My husband loves us both very much and I thank the Lord for the blessing he gave us.

In some states you can get mental health treatment at 17 without your parents consent. However, in your case I recommend you have a long talk with your mom and tell her how you feel and the thoughts you have been having about suicide. A mental health specialist can be of great help to you. Consider going to your local mental health clinic or a private psychiatrist, social worker or psychologist. You can feel better with the proper help. Take care of yourself and get what you need so you can enjoy your life as a 17 year old should.

I had to know why Nick N was calling 15 and 16 year old girls and boys pricks and bitches and this is his reply:
Message: who the **** are to talk ive seen my share of deaths in the family when i was a kid a tsunami killed my clan 13 years later when i was journying with my sensi in a village west of jakarta after a tribel war there was stuff that i shouldnt of seen when i was young and when i moved to america i was thankfull but i only met selfish people im only stating what my head clansmen would of said to the villagers
Dont let his statment bother you. I cant imagion how he feels or what he has gone though and I do feel bad that he suffers so much in side now. I dont think it gives him any excuse to act the way he is acting. If you look at his profile, you will notice that your not the only one he put this same answer down for.

I'm sorry. My brother had the same problem, he did tell us and we took him to a doctor that diagnosed him as bipolar. I think you should leave your shame aside and talk to your parents because it is your life that you want to end and that's a serious problem. Medication does help if they give you the right medication, make yourself be heard and if it is necessary to say that you even consider suicide to be heard then do it. Don't be embarrassed because you didn't do anything wrong, we are all humans and have weaknesses but admitting those weaknesses is what makes us brave and strong. Please talk to your parents, nobody better than them to give you a hand and find a solution to your problem. Your life is precious, please don't make a huge mistake if you can fix this. You're very valuable, don't let your life go to waste.
God Bless, my best wishes and prayers to you.

And do your best to fix it, i know its not easy but it will get better. Lastly you can buy something called st. johns wart it is natural buy it at a pharmacy or a vitamin store, its been known to help depression. good luck and remember the worlds a beautiful place you just have to take the time to notice.

go back to the doctor and demand some help. did u give the medication a chance to work? it takes time but it does work. I have gone through what u are going through and u need some help. I am pretty sure u are old enough that you don't need your parents with you. If your doctor doesn't take u seriously a second time, go to a hospital. there are doctors there who will help you. this isn't just going to go away on it's own. please seek more help.

I'm so sorry to hear this. I can relate to you though. I am 31 now, but I had a lot of feelings like that when I was your age. It is very tough going through school & different things that life brings to you. Try to insist to your parents that you need to go to the doctor again. They probably don't understand the depth of your feelings. Whatever you do, please do not give up on life. I know it feels like things will not get better & that high school will never end, but it will & life will change. If you need someone to chat with you can email me at ruonlinetoday@yahoo.com. Please do not do anything drastic.

Sit your parents down now. It takes a lot of courage to admit that you are having problems. We "depressed" people try to keep it to ourselves.
Please do not let this go any further. If your parents won't listen, make a trip by yourself to the Emergency Room. I know that sounds crazy, but they can't turn you back, and maybe, just maybe it will open up your parents eyes.
