I've heard rats aren't so tempted to fight if they're neutered.

Do you have rats that are fighting? I only ask because many people assume that rats are like hamsters and will fight if housed together, and many times this isn't true. However, if a rat is territorial and aggressive to cagemates, neutering can indeed help.

It really varies from vet to vet. I've heard some areas quoted as low as $35-50 for the procedure, to the above $100 range. You'd want one experienced in working with exotics.

I had a male rat neutered, not for aggression, but so he could live with females. He did perfectly fine and lived to an old age

Ok.

I would assume rats could be neutered. Since I do refer people to a local vet to get their Guinea Pig's neutered AND spayed. It would be slightly higher than a dog/cat/guinea pig, since the size is so small. But I would guess between 100-200 dollars.

I always had my males neutered. At our hospital we charge $75.00 (exam, surgery, pain medication).

Hmm...that's interesting...a neutered rat heheh. You don't have to neuter them to keep them from fighting, just keep them apart from each other. (Like, in different cages)
