I consider a dog to be an adult physically at about 18 months, but mentally, I'd consider them to be puppies until they are about 2 years old.

Dogs are considered an adult at 1 year old. That doesn't mean that they are fully mature at 1 year old. A lot of breeds don't mature until they are 2 or 3 years, like German Shepherds and labs

I have been told through books, and vets that you concider a puppy an adult when they have reached age 3,, that is when they are most likely done growing.

It depends on if they are a small or large breed. Small breed dogs like toy poodles, maltese, etc are an adult at 12months. I think large breeds like rotts, etc are like 18 months.

it all depends on the size and breed of your dog...you're probably wanting to know when to change foods...you can start feeding adult food after one year of age to almost all dogs...
