I take issue with the fact that if one is a Christian who believes the Bible one must necessarily support Israel wholeheartedly.

I am a Roman Catholic and of course believe the Scriptures but I believe Zionism to be a dangerous movement within the Republican ranks and will certainly not let that be the deciding factor for my vote.

The entire Christian Zionist eschatology is heretical and contradicts the very words of Jesus Christ who said repeatedly we do NOT know when the world will end.

According to Christian Zionism, at the end of the world, the "Antichrist" will arise and the Jews in Israel will suffer a 7-year tribulation. Only a minority of Jews will convert to Christ; the majority of Jews will be slaughtered. Christians will be "raptured" into Heaven just before Armageddon begins, leaving the Jews in a horrible state. Christian Zionist Charles Ryrie says it will be "Israel's greatest bloodbath."

So are "pro Israel" Christians really pro-Israel?

It's obvious that Christian Zionists are false friends of Israel and that they are grossly misinterpreting the Scriptures.

As a Christian, what do you see as the issue here. Why does a candidate need to support Israel?

Mormons have faith that there will be 2 important places for the period of the Millenium. One would be in Jerusalem and the different (that's called the hot Jerusalem) would be on the american continent. besides: Jesus prophesied that the final would be first and the 1st would be final. 2000 years in the past, the gospel grow to be taken to the Jews yet maximum rejected it. It grow to be then taken to the gentile international locations. In those final days, the gospel has been taken to the gentiles yet a relative few will settle for it. Upon the appearance of Christ, the gospel will back be taken to the Jews. for this reason the final would be first and the 1st would be final.

I'd like to see the US continue to be allied with Israel but I don't believe the modern nation of Israel is God's chosen people. I believe the church of Christ (the church belonging to Jesus) is God's chosen people (Israel) by adoption.
