The answer is both yes and no.

First, it would surprise me if the Air Force was willing to give such a specific job guarantee. Training guarantees tend to be more along the lines of "Medical Field". The recruiter isn't lying when he/she says that you "could" get to be an ultrasound tech, but you could also get to be a bedpan inspector. Either way that "medical field" guarantee is fulfilled.

Next, any job guarantee will be subject to your continued qualifications, and your completion of required training. While the training is not designed specifically to wash folks out, it tends to be very tough (think of a couple of semesters of a tough college program crammed into eight weeks).

The more technical the field, the higher the dropout percentage. Failing the class does not get you out of your contract, but it does get the military out of the guarantee. Ask the question directly, and the recruiter will tell you that. (Don't ask, and you'll find it out later.)

In any case, most of the "guarantees" I heard about over many years in the Navy turned out to be vague statements about what a person "could" do. (Yes, you could be assigned to guarding the Swedish Bikini Team, and you could also win the lottery. The lotto would be the better bet.)

Get it in writing, read the fine print and remember that any promises that are not in writing are not worth the paper they aren't printed on.

there is about 500,00 poeple in the Air Force and maybe 500 people do the job you want. People are not allowed to list medical jobs at the MEPS for the Air Force. You can get a guaranteed job, but definitely not that one. Medical jobs are in high demand and low supply. If your joining the Air Force you need to be more flexible.

The recruiters will tell you yes, but the reality is when you get to Lackland, you may find that there is no room in the class, and be assigned to something else.
