I shoot in the low 90s, and I use a 7-iron from around 130 yards out, but I'm 55 years old, so most people should hit it a little farther than that.

You should not be too concern about distance of the "average people". You should know how far YOU hit YOUR 7 iron (100 ,120 or160) and hit it with at that yardage CONSISTENTLY then you will have a good score.

It depends. I shoot the same as you do (if that is 18 holes...if 9 holes, distance is the least of your problems...lol). I hit my 7 iron about 165 carry, 175ish roll. But it all depends on your swing style, strength, what club you have...a bunch of factors.

actual lofts vary from different club manufacturers,so your 7 iron may be the same loft as my 8 iron
distance is not the answer.
knowing how far you hit each club,is the key to success.

about 110 to 120. but if you shoot 100+ your probably not going to hit it a constant distance. although there are people who hit the ball far but have awful short games
