The person you refer to as your friend does, at least, have you. Could be intense shyness, insecurity, introversion, and a couple of phobias. Phobia is fear. The person is afraid of strangers, crowds, being touched, etc.
Labeling is a clinical technique in which a client is described as -----phobic. So you have a label. It is more important to face fear and adopt a different behavior. I am sad for your friend. Show love and care as you are already doing. With trust, fear can be overcome. Good for you. C. :)!!

I think it's based on fear of not being able to survive as we wont be hired, not accepted by others so we can't work there or will rather die. Simply put, medication allows another mind set and then we can adjust our thinking to and support that new mind set. New ideas rewire the brain as do meds. We can achieve this downward spiral of the mind over anything when we only know that we are our feelings or are our thoughts. When we realize that we are only an awareness of feelings, that is we have feeling we are not our feelings, then we are free from them and are only watching the show, rather unemotionally. Using descriptive words is more scientific and accurate, while being less emotional. Using judgmental words have the opposite effect, fuzzy thinking, anger and other mind altering emotions that don't allow us to think straight. Being somewhat unattached we can access deeper feeling because we can handle them. Emotional Intelligence teaches us people skills and transitions into intuition, which is what is the answer all along. Intuition guides you, the conscious mind is like a monkey on the back of a tiger. The more we listen to our intuition, the tiger, the more popular we are and we become the man, or in this case the woman, even among men. That's the outline, study is the price. Check out this video and let me know what you think of it.

I guess you mean what do you have if you fear losing your friends. I can't find the exact term* and it gets a little useless to name them all separely anyway, as this fear suggests a general self-esteem problem and indeed the social phobia more than it does suggest an entirely separate aetiology- set of reasons for the condition.

The anxiety of course makes it more likely to lose them as I guess you've had to put up with...

*I know the fear of being alone has been listed by others... Autophobia, Eremophobia, Ermitophibia, Isolophobia, Monophobia - Fear of being alone or fear of oneself. See how silly it gets- why have 5 made up names...

There is no phobia whereby one of the symptoms is "no friends". Having no friends is a consequent, not a symptom.

There are many conditions, as other answerers above have listed, that may account for the consequent of being friendless.

You cannot help other people if you're not willing to listen carefully, observe, then report the full facts.

social anxiety disorder (social phobia) which basically is the fear of being alone. the phobia of having no friends would fit into this category.
