Your breasts hurt because of engorgement. Which means her breasts are full of milk which is painful. There are many ways to help with the pain.
* Go to the store (or if you have one already) and get an elastic ace wrap. Put on a snug sports bra and then take the ace wrap and wrap it around her breasts tightly, almost to the point it is not comfortable. The contrictions on the breasts helps with the pain a bit as well as to restrict further milk producation.
* While in the shower, avoid letting the warm water run along the breasts. This warmth will encourage milk production.
* Because engorgment is so painful, taking pain medication is not a bad idea. I remember taking the strongest pain medication that I could
* It seems silly but some women swear by cabbage leave compresses. Take a chilled cabbage leave(s) and place them against the skin before putting on the bra and ace wrap. The cool cabbage leaf is said to reduce breast milk production. When the leaves are wilted simply toss them out
* As a warning, engorgment can lead to mastitis, which is an inflammation of breast tissue. If you develop redness, a fever, unbearable pain, call your doctor because this can lead to more serious issues.
On a side note, the breast milk is re-absorbed by the body and the body will eliminate the milk just like any other body waste.

Usually for the first 3 or 4 days they are sore. Not using them and there is milk still there. Take a nice shower or Motrin. The Milk that is not being used gets absorbed into the body. If the baby is not feeding the body realizes that their is not need to produce milk. Hope this helps. Best of Luck.

The breast milk will be absorbed into your body. Try taking a cold shower or some tylenol. In a few days you will feel better!

When the breast are not being emptied, the milk production stops. It does hurt for a few days because they are full. Ice packs help the pain.

my obgyn told me that as long as the baby wasn't feeding, the milk would eventually "dry up". It was sore at first, because the body is used to producing milk to the breasts so they become engorged and it takes them awhile to not fill up as much and eventually they wont fill up at all.
hope this helps=)

Idk. I went a day and a half of not nursing, not touching myself. Then I took a nap, and woke up and the bed was all wet, and one of my breasts was back to normal. So I did the same on the other side, and it was all over.
Have you taken advil? You can take up to 800 mg now that you're not nursing. Sleep on your side is all I can tell you.
