No because he didn't beat Morales, he just beat the shell of a great boxer that use to be!
Morales was done the minute he got handed his third lose to Pack man and if that didn't prove how done he was I don't know what would have!
A young Morales losing to Diaz would be more than proving how great Diaz was but for the simple fact that he beat an old man and a shell of a great boxer who use to be, there will be talk generating all around on this very subject!
Diaz can hold his head high but I would go around strutting like he is a great champ because simply put he didn't fight a champion Morales he fought what was left after the beating from pack man.
This is the science behind boxing Morales was done a long time ago and anyone who beats him from then on doesn't prove anything but that Morales really needs to retire and stop embarrassing himself, there is only so far a true warrior can go before he knows he is done.
Yeah I would reconsider Diaz holding his head high and start to really hold his head into the thinking tank lol~

No way! His win against Morales was probable the biggest sham in boxing this year. The judges were just plain idiots. How could one of them score 10-9 when Erik scored a knockdown (which is an automatic 10-8). And in another round they gave Diaz 10-8 when Morales didn't hit the canvass. Morales was clearly the more active fighter in that bout. He was busier throwing punches and putting up a good defense against Diaz's attack. Yeah, Erik fought a silent fight, not the brutal ones he'd put up against Barrera and Pacquiao, but he was pretty much effective and did more than enough to win. I'm a true-blue boxing fan but that doggone decision is a blatant advertisement for us to shift to mixed martial arts or the UFC. There should be a rematch though Erik seems to have decided on retiring. Well, how 'bout a Pacman-Diaz fight?

These are good answers, but the main point should be that he simply CANNOT consider himself the WBC lightweight champ until he faces and beats Joel Casamayor. Casamayor beat Corrales, who became the unified lightweight champion when he KO'd JL Castillo in their first fight.
Casamayor is the linear and Ring magazine champion, and he was stripped when he considered fighting Acelino Frietas -- he wasn't even in negotiations, nor did he ever fight Frietas.
David Diaz inherited his title, and beating Eric Morales -- who was 1-4 in his last 5 fights, and did nothing to earn that title shot -- does nothing for his standing as champion.

No....Erik Morales was pretty old and beaten when he fought Diaz....i wonder what would have happened if he had fought him in Morales' prime(Pretty much when he had the trilogy against Barrera). But Diaz is good, but i wanna see him fight the other Diaz
