"Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities, but the influence of the religion paralyzes the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step." -- Sir Winston Churchill - circa 1899

Churchill was a great man, and its quotes like this that remind you of how well he understood...just about everything. In the quote above, Churchill is contrite. He recognized that the brainwashing of Islam creates some attributes in its followers that, on the surface, appear admirable. However, he also recognized that there is something very scary about the ability of a religion to program uniform beahvior.

I challenge every reader to sift through the many accounts of Islamic suicide bombers. Non-muslims who knew them are always shocked. They were quite and seemed nice.

Oooohhhhh that's hate speech, Winston! Why are you so "intolerant", Winston!

LOL

Remember the Marine hymn that has the lyric, "To the shores of Tripoli"? That was about how the Muslim pirates off North Africa were intercepting and robbing our US ships in that region. Completely unprovoked attack. So the US troops went over there and squashed Tripoli, and we still sing about that victory today.

Churchill was a product of the English aristocracy that ruled the empire before WWII. He thought everyone was inferior to the English.
Churchill also said , in 1937, the Jews invited persecution because "The central fact which dominates the relations of Jew and non-Jew is that the Jew is 'different'. He looks different. He thinks differently. He has a different tradition and background. He refuses to be absorbed."

Without knowing any details I would make this comment. He might have been looking for friend to counterbalance communism in the Middle East. If the speech was before 1945 he was fighting the Nazis.
