my stepbrother died last October when his truck got ran off of the road... Long story short I have been sort of fighting with his mom my stepmom about some struggles I have been having recently and I am calling my dad to get a hold of him however she is getting all of the calls cuz my dad is out all the time doing whatever with golf or work. Well this afternoon I was taking a nap cuz I am home from work from an injury. My stepbrother I think came to me in my dream he was literally talking to me and I to him.. Can dead people come to you in a dream like this. He was telling me stuff like I should go to college and fly right get my act together and move on. It is definitely true what he said I do need to do this.. But why would he come to me in a dream and tell me this? Did my stepmom pray for him to do this? That would be crazy oh well what do you guys think of this?

Wow I got alot of good answers for this one! thank you all.. To answer Kris L yes he really died.. My dad took me to his grave and showed me pictures of the funeral and a dvd with all of his pictures. He is not a figment of my imagination. The dream maybe just a dream and I am a Christian and believe that this could be from God. It could be just a dream. Many of you said that he might be just on my mind alot and Yeah he is always on my mind almost like I can't get the fact that he is gone out of my mind. can you imagine someone at the age of 32 being dead? I can't get it out of my mind. ok thank you all for the excellent answers I don't know what one is the best answer pretty much all of them are the same all different of course in their own special way but pretty much all saying the same thing

I think it's God basically telling you that you need to get your act together, in a way that you'll listen. Obviously He wants you to go to college, (I don't know why He wouldn't...) and maybe if He sent an angel to your dream you wouldn't take it seriously. Maybe putting your brother in your dream gets you to listen and really focus on God's plans for you.

I think you already know what you need to do with your life, but sometimes it's hard to see because the stress of homelife right now. Your stepbrother has been on your mind a lot too. All of this just came together in a dream. I don't mean to oversimplify it or anything like that. If the dream provided some clarity for you, you should definitely go with it. Don't over-interpret. It was good advice -- take it.

Yes I believe that they can. However, if you are thinking about him a lot then you also have to accept that a dream is a dream. I think if you dwell on something or someone it is very likely that they will turn up in a dream. If you have been given advice like going to college, then it sounds more likely that he did visit you from the other side, it might be worth taking his advice.

Yes!I have had the same thing happen many times. Most people get scared when this happens and try to block it out though, but don't do that! You can actually learn a lot of things from him. Some people can actually see their Spirit guide in dreams, if you believe in that kind of stuff.Don't think I'm some kind of freak tho!Oh and I heard if your a Gemini you are more likely to talk to dead people in their sleep.I am so that might help me.

I think deceased loved ones do come to us in dreams. I've heard of other people that have had the same experience as you. My first husband died in 1998, we had been divorced for about 14 years when he died. The first few years after he died, I dreamed about him about every 6 months. It was always a pleasant dream and I always just felt like he was telling me he was okay.

According to Dreamcrowd:

To see the dead in your dream, forewarns that you are being influenced by negative people and are hanging around the wrong crowd. You may suffer material loss. This dream may also be a way for you to resolve your feelings with those who have passed on. If you dream of a person who has died a long time ago, then it suggests that a current situation or relationship in you life resembles the quality of that deceased person. The dream may depict how you need to let this situation or relationship die and end it. To see and talk with your dead parents in your dreams, represents your fears of losing them or your way of coping with the loss. You may want that last opportunity to say your final good-byes to them. To see your dead sibling, relative, or friend alive in your dream, indicates that you miss them and are trying to relive your old experiences you had with them. In trying to keep up with the pace of your daily waking life, you dreams may serve as your only outlet in coping and coming to terms with the loss of a loved one. See also: Die

What freaks me out is that when I dream about somebody who I've not seen in a long time, I usually learn a day or two later that they have died. Then I usually don't dream about them for a very long time.

Probably just tricks in the back of the mind, but can be disquieting.

Your dream does not neccessarily mean you were talking to your dead step brother. God will use people who are deceased in our dreams to speak to us because they are symbolic or represent the voice of God to us. A long time ago, I had a dream about a dead girl who used to go to school with me, but she never did speak to me in the dream. Later I found out she was in my dream because she represented I would be helping people who had leukemia. And I did not know that she died of leukemia. And sometimes angels will appear as people we know or who have passed on.

Believe it or not, your 'dead stepbrother' came to you in your dream because YOU respected him ... all our dreams are is the 'subconsious mind' trying to work out what our conscious minds can't or won't work out. Do I think you should 'listen to your dead stepbrother?' Yes ... what he told you in your dream was 'good advice' whether he'd 'really dead' or just a 'figment of your imagination.'
