Does your conciousness just cease to exist? Or do you go to heaven or hell or purgatory or something else? Do you have a soul? Are you reincarnated? If so, do you always come back as a person?
Or are there 72 virgins waiting for you? If so, where did they come from? What if you prefer more experienced women? Do you get to pick your virgins? If not, who picks them for you?
Or do you end up in Valhalla? And why do you believe what you believe? I'm anxious to know. Do you feel it's wrong to question your beliefs? How can you be sure what you believe is right? And do you think science is trying to destroy God, or that science only proves his existence? What are the odds that nobody has it right?

We are often trapped in the concepts and words that we must use to think and communicate. One of these words (and it's concept) is "death." We all accept that death cannot co-exist with life, but rarely do we look much deeper than that. A whole industry has grown up around death and it's aftermath as your questions reflect. Most religions have built their platforms solidly on this concept and their answers to these questions.

I think, however, that the concept itself is false. In other words, there is no such thing as "death."This may be difficult to grasp, because it involves a conceptual change.

What we are, and what we have, is "life." When the conditions for life, or the machinery of life is no longer able to sustain it, then life ends. We call this ending of life dying, giving up our soul, crossing to the other side, etc., really, it is just life ENDING.

When this concept is understood, a lot of the confusion about what life is, what it means, where it goes, etc. is cleared up. Hope this helps -:)

No one really knows, but I suspect that for us death is curtains, fini, the end, fade to black. Our heart will no longer beat, our lungs will no longer pump air, our brain will no longer put forth electrical signals. After a bit we will start to decay and stink. As for "ending up in Valhalla"; the only one I know is the nearby Valhalla Trailer Court.Since the cops are over there a lot, I do not seek to go there after death. However I am curious about why women don't get to hang out with 72 young men in heaven. Just wondering!

conservative Christians believe that when a person dies, they enter into complete oblivion - a state of non-existence. They remain unconscious; they have no self-awareness. Their body decays. At the time of the second coming of Jesus, the dead are called from their graves; they will be resurrected and judged. Those who had been saved while on earth will be given special bodies and go to Heaven; the unsaved will go to Hell for eternal punishment. Go to scripture to find your answers.
Daniel 12:2: "And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt."

John 3:12-13: "If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things? And no man hath ascended up to heaven..."

Personally, I Feel that the most plausible idea for an afterlife is reincarnation. It fits with the spirit of the natural world that things happen, they break down, and then they return again. I believe this is true of the spirit as well. This cycle repeats itself indefinitely.

As a "pandeist", I believe that science simply reveals "god".

when I die, others will nevertheless be alive getting on with their lives. according to probability i could % to think of a few could mourn my loss of life, yet that relies upon upon what I did in existence. when I die, I would be not greater, so I is basically not conscious and consequently I won't be waiting to recognize what occurs following my loss of life. So there's no ingredient traumatic approximately it.

our bible says.....

at the time of death...

if you are born again ....

- your body goes to the grave

- your spirit goes to heaven to be in the presence of God...
but you do not have your glorified body yet.

- you remain there until the sound of the 7th trumpet, when Jesus raptures His saints.
at that time you receive your glorified body that you will remain in for eternity.

- you meet Jesus in the clouds as well as the saints who have been raptured from the earth.

- we go with Jesus to the battle of armageddon in the valley of megiddo to fight against satan & his armies (the UN armies).

- from there we go with Jesus to Jerusalem to the mount of olives where the veil is lifted from the eyes of the Jews.
they now understand that Jesus is & was their Messiah 2000 years ago.

- those who accept Him go with the rest of the raptured into the 1000 years of peace, the "millineal reigh of Jesus Christ". scripture says we will reign with Him as priests & kings for 1000 years.

- at the end of this time period, we accompany Jesus at the Great White Throne of Judgment... the second death, although the raptured ones do not have to endure the second death.

- eternity begins on the "new heavens & the new earth". there will we forever be with the LORD.

if you are not born again .....

- your body goes to the grave,

- your spirit descends to hell.
you remain there until after the 1000 years of peace on the earth.

- then comes the Great White Throne of Judgment called the "second death". here you will account for every word out of your mouth & every action you took while alive on the earth.

it determines your degree of hell for eternity.

Nothing - you just die. Just like turning off a computer and smashing it to bits, your brain shuts down and disintegrates. God(dess) is a fictional Daddy (or Mommy) created by people who just weren't willing to grow up.

Sure, I'm open to proof that I'm wrong. Haven't seen any yet; silly books written by delusional people ages ago don't count as proof.

Nothing, you cease to exist. Your consciousness dies with you, and personally, I don't mind that at all. I'd rather not have to think about anything ever again after I'm gone.

Either something more wonderful than you could possibly imagine.
Or something more terrible than you could possibly imagine.
