How long ago did you stop? Long enough to truthfully say you're done with it?

Do you have scars that literally scream "I'm a cutter!"? if not, and if you're long time done with it, I wouldn't even bring it up. Don't lie if asked, but...

I've know many troops with cigarette burns from playing "chicken". Two guys hold their forearms together and lay a lit cigarette between them. First to flinch loses. Causes stupid-looking scars but apparently no problem with enlisting.

I'm a farm boy myself and was covered with scars when I joined. No problem at all. They just wanted a list of the more prominent ones to help identify my parts if the need should ever arise.

If you're currently about as mentally functional as the average Joe you shouldn't have a problem.

It could be done but it would take some serious effort. You could get into waiver land and showing that you are fine.

But regardless even if you got in if you show the marks promotion, how people treat you, socially and in a number of things you will be discrimanated against. Its bad enough to have had a lip, nose or eyebrow piercing.

It all depends. If you have the cash to erase it with plastic surgery.... maybe. But it will still show. Even in a civilian job it will be an issue at some point. You may be fine now but those times you cut... hope it was worth it.

You can manage to get in but you will have issues.

It very well might become an issue at your medical examination, you should be prepared to answer a lot questions regarding those scars.

A history of self-mutilation is disqualifying. And that is what cutting is.

people who cut themselves are NOT mentally okay. and yes, it can be a permanent DQ.

JROTC does nothing for you.
