I just hired a sitter. We have a set daily rate. But next month she takes my son to school in the mornign and picks him up. Do I still pay the daily rate?

Yes. She is doing you a favor so you don't have to send your son to an expensive day care. Your sitter has bills to pay too. I am about ready to quit my nanny job because the parents are flaking out on paying me on time and what they owe me. If she is good to your son just pay her what you owe her.

Assuming the daily rate was set for the summer, then yes, you can reevaluate how much she is paid when she isn't watching your child for as many hours. She would probably be surprised if you did otherwise. Day cares charge much less for before and after school care than they do for a full day.

The exception to this is if she is expected to stay at your place while the child is at school. Will she be doing your house cleaning or running errands for you during this time? If so, then you need to keep the current pay.

You do need to pay her a bonus for the added responsibility of driving your child to and from school, driving time, gas, etc. It may not end up being much different than your normal daily rate anyway, but it will probably be a little less. Just make sure you spell out what the pay change entails so that there is no misunderstanding.

Yes you pay her less because she is only taking him back and forth. If she is keeping the child after school and doing homework with him then you pay her about half of the daily rate. For instance, if you were paying her $30 per day I would pay about $15-$20! You probably would save more if you just paid a weekly rate... I suggest about $55 a week!

Oh yes! Beacause you have already picked the rate and now the sitter has to pay for gas money too. I wold just Keep it the same. even though she has time that she gets to lay around. Maybe she will clean your house! :)

Pay the same rate. You have already agreed on the amount with your baby sitter.

I would still pay the same rate, especially if you already agreed on a daily rate.

That's between you to. She is doing something extra but will not have him as long. I paid an hourly rate with the provider who watched my son but they only had to take him to school in the morning, he was only there for an hour each morning.

I would say yes, if its a half day kindergarten, and she is also taking and picking up, not a lot of sitters would do that.

Yes because she is doing more than you asked her to do. If you don't like it, talk to her about it. But she seems nice, I would be grateful.
