My family and i are going to new york during christmas, we're gonna be staying in harlem around 129th street between 5th ave and madison, is it safe?

I lived in Harlem for a year. Best way to go about it is not to be cocky, only confidant. be savy and aware and if your white, be mindful that your in a black neighborhood where some still have old-school racist hatred.
Just be nice and reserved. 125th is safe and as long as you don't forget where you are, no one will really bother you. Some may holler at you if your hot, but thats really it. Harlem, for the most part has been improving significantly the past few years and within the upcoming decade it will become the next trendy neighborhood (much to the locals dismay i might add)

Stay close to 125th Street. It's a large avenue. If you don't do anything stupid, implusive, you should be okay. Harlem in the last 10 years has changed for the better.

It's not that bad anymore. Lots of money has moved further uptown. Christmas is no different than any other time.

harlem isnt such a safe place becuz of a lot of gang activity u cant just go there and u dont live there ..it is not such a good idea trust me someone shot me in my leg..when i was just going to the deli....it is not safe going there BELEIVE ME...
