What files are typically larger Avi. or Mpeg4?
I am trying to convert avi to mpeg4, so will it save space or will consume more space?

AVI is a File format container. It supports multiple codecs, including MPEG-4.

So, it all depends, what is the original codec (DV, MPEG-4, etc.) bitrate and what is the final bitrate.
