The passport requirement for SEA travel will go into effect between Jan. and June of 2008. The date has not yet been released. However, many cruise lines require passengers to have passports. Safest to get one. See website below for all passport info.

The correct answer is YES. The current passport rules require that everyone leaving and entering the United States on or after January 1, 2008 MUST have a valid passport, no exceptions.

Right now there are certain exceptions for cruise travel but those expire at the end of the year. Since the passport office has a tremendous backlog you should apply now as soon as possible to get your passport by the end of the year. 60 and 90 day delays are common right now.

The regulations are not 100% clear, but according to the Department of State, it will probably be required by January 1, 2008. If I were you I'd get one just to be on the safe side. Also, apply now - wait time is 12 weeks or more!
