I fully appreciate your dilemma mate, many years ago, I was stuck at home by myself, the family was holidaying in Peru, so I called directory enquiries and asked them. Apparently you put some water in a pan, enough to cover the egg, then put egg into pan and put pan onto heat. There was no way I'd have worked that out by myself, I was only in my twenties! The cooking time is just guesswork. I found that twenty minutes on a good boil will produce a very convincing boiled egg. Between two and three minutes if you want soldiers to dip in the yoke though.

Pan of water, egg

Put pan on heat, bring to the boil. Lower egg carefully into the water with a spoon. Start to time from the time the egg goes in. Average cooking time for a boiled egg is about 3 and a half minutes, depending on how you like it cooked. Get it out straight away when the time is up.

Then you slice up some bread, butter it and cut it into soldiers...

egg
pot
water

Put cold water in the pot, enough to cover the egg. Put a room temperature egg in the water. (I run it under warm water for a minute to get it to room tem.)

When the water boils, set the timer for three minutes. Take the egg out when the timer rings, and enjoy.

Hmm - sounds good. I'll have that for breakfast tomorrow.

Eggs of course a pot and water. Depending on how many eggs you are going to make and how u like your eggs depends on how long u cook it for.
-Bring your water to the boil first
- for Hard boiled cook for about 8 to 10 mins
- for Medium cook for about 6 mins
- for Soft cook for about 3 to 4 mins..
This guide is for one egg. If u with to cook more add 1 min for every egg you cook.
