put the dogs leash on and let it hang on the floor. When the dog becomes excited step on the end of the leash so that when the dog tries to jump up he can't. When he tries to jump up tell him "no jump", then because he won't be able to jump up tell him good boy or reward him with a treat if he's not trying to jump. It will take a while but the dog will learn not to jump up and will learn your command for not jumping at the same time. Do not hit your dog in the chest you can cause life threatening injuries.

Your dog needs to be obedience trained. They will teach you about dog behavior and how to teach your dog. You can then just use a command to stop the dog from jumping. Isn't this better than kneeing your dog in the chest and causing it pain?

Tape a penny inside of a coke can and shake it and say"NO,NO" and meant it.No hitting ,screaming or pushing. The sound will get his or her attention .It may take a few times but he will get it.Good Luck!!!!!!
