Why do so many people today stereotype Christians? I believe in ALL of the Old Testament. Every word. I think that many of us "prefer" the New Testament, because of the hope that it promises.....

I'm a chritian But I'm certainly no biblee scholar I do believe in the old testament as well as the new the testament pointed the way to the new all the prohets of old spoke of the comming os a savior perhaps many churches of our day dont believe that the old testament is essential it spoke also of our future ahead of us and some of those things are taking place right now it even spoke on the end of times incidently even if I wasn't a christian I would ask the same question . It matters ! thanks for sharing I left out one thing If they dont read the old testament then there missing something I believe is very imprtant to know the whole word of god If you read the last chapter in revelations see what god say about it revelations chapter 22 verses 18-21 I hope this will shed some light both the new and the old tie together again thanks for sharing your thoughts

For someone who's not a Christian, you have a valid point. I am a Christian who believes in the Old and the New Testament. Granted there are certain items in the Old Testament that are not applicable in our time, but there are a lot that IS applicable today. For instance, people have a hard time understanding the book of Revelation. They don't know that the book of Daniel, in the Old Testament is the sister book. They go hand in hand.

Also, don't people realize that 3/4 of the Bible is practically the OLD?!

If Christians believed in the Old Testament they would reject Jesus and convert to Judaism.

Christians have a hard time understanding the Old Testament because they try to read it with a Christian interpretation. Not only that you need to read the Mishna(Oral Torah) to understand much of the Written Torah.

All Christians DO believe in the Old Testament! It's just that we are not living in that
dispensation now. We are
living in the time After Jesus
was crucified/died/and Resurrected.
And we, "The Church" were
"sent out" to bring reconciliation between
God and man.

I am a Christian and I believe that both the Old Testament and the New Testament comprise the self-authenticating, God-breathed Word that is sufficient for our faith and practice.

I will attempt to answer........ it is not that we (Christians) do not believe in the OT, it is that we now have grace....... The OT is FOR us but not TO us, if you get what I mean ??? The OT, was about a time of establishment of Gods people, before the cross...... It was about showing the people just who and what God was and is....... God used very strong signs and laws and regulations with a hard headed people..... He had to make His points clear and precise...... I do NOT know how to explain it more deeply than that...... but to say, Jesus , took the law and brought it unto and into himself, took all those rituals and laws and legalisms too, and left ONLY the finished work of the cross....... *Sigh*......... there is more, but it would take all night to go there......... God bless

I think some of the priests added their own words to the word of god...that is what gave birth to contradictions between the two books !

they believe in the old testament....but they emphasize the new one.

however, some are replacement theologists,,,,thinking they have replaced Israel in prophesy..so they ignore the OT alot...this is wrong......you are right ...it is all god's word...and people are missing out by ignoring important info that is ONLY found there.
