Holiness is not a feeling. It is a state of being. Confession and Holy Communion help.

The most peaceful place I have been is Gethsemani monastery in Kentucky. It is away from the world, an old beautiful place, and is very quiet. It is a place where I could pray and be close to God. Also, I experience great peace and experience of the sacred when I go to Eucharistic Adoration where the presence of Jesus Christ comes to me in a very powerful, real way.
As for individuals who have influenced me, I would say John Paul II (although I never met him), St. Thomas Aquinas and St. Augustine. Through their writings I am propelled towards God, towards the truth, and to all that I was created to be. My parish priest also spurs me on toward holiness. He is a very simple, holy man who loves God. He makes me want to love God more and follow Him more.

Treating everyone with as much love and respect as possible feels 'holy' to me. Being honest and kind feels 'holy' to me. I once yelled at another sister for cursing at a child, like flirting (she didn't know, I just thought the spirit was a predator, and I got angry; but I later learned she didn't know he was a child) A fair-skinned sister of mine, Simrit Kaur, chased her down after she ran out to make sure that she didn't get herself hurt, being vulnerable as she was (she was a bit intoxicated as we all were) . She explained to me that we're all a part of each other, and we should treat each other as such. I had to fight a spirit of malice towards the situation to accept my shame and acknowledge that I was not as compassionate as I chould have been. I'll never forget the enlightenment and shame that I felt, but the lesson stayed in my heart. Real love feels 'holy' to me. Relationships are now sacred to me, even the hard ones.

God is Holy along with the Holy Bible.
Every time I go to the Lord in prayer I experience holiness.
People who speak to me from a place of knowledge instead of "parroting Katie Couric types" that speak only from a personal and hidden agenda.

My holiness comes from my belief in Jesus Christ. Without him I am nothing. My holiness and rightousness would be as filthy rags compared to the rightousness of Jesus . A person cannot be holy in himself. He needs to be filled with the Spirit of God .As far as being a good person , well there are a lot of them in hell. But heaven is a wonderful place filled with mercy and grace. Holiness is what I long for, seek often, obtain much.
