I was on a Virginia interstate driving home, the same interstate for 4 years now. I got pulled over for APPARENTLY driving in an "HOV" lane (high occupancy vehicle lane, you must have two or more people in the car to travel in the HOV lane). OK, get this.....I WASN"T driving in the HOV lane! The HOV lane is the most left lane on the interstate and clearly marked with double lines. I was driving in the right lane (slow normal lane). The cop told me that ALL lanes on the interstate are HOV lanes, yes ALL 4 LANES! But this major interstate (Interstate 66) has at least 4 lanes and the left one is the only one that has the sign on it and is marked with double white broken lines. I have been driving like this for years, hundreds and hundreds of cars are on this interstate with only one person (driver) in the car. What is going on here? I have never in my life heard of this....ALL lanes on interstate are HOV lanes! How does one go home? Did this cop give me an illegal ticket? What do I do?
