my dad insulted me and basically the whole concept of religion. he sed some pretty dirty trash which i cried about (not infront of him). As a new, but loyal, christian, i defended it. but afterall, he is supposed to be a parent with unconditional love, rite? i dont know what got into him; before, he seemed cool with it. All i know is that, this was a great test of faith.

i definately was not preaching
i mean, he was attacking with words
so i defended myself
he doesn't need to convert; the least he accept my decision and leave me alone on it

That would not have been easy. There are some good reasons for people to be angry at Christians. We need to have the integrity within our faith to acknowledge that. I won't list those reasons here ... (you can read all about them at R & S so why bother). I will say that I strongly suspect that your father was much more angry about those reasons that he was at you directly. He will get used to the idea, but if I were you, I wouldn't try to convince him to your way of thinking with anything but your lifestyle. Don't let him get away with bothering you about it either though. He has to respect your decisions, just like you should respect his.

Well, it's like hurting someone's eyes with a bright light
who had been sitting in the dark for too long.

You did the right thing. The Bible says we are to honor our mothers and our fathers. What better honor than to pray for them that one day they will come to know the Lord as you do. Be strong in your faith, pray often and read your Bible. God will give the the strength to endure and one day, when your Dad comes to know Him as Savior, you will have your reward. I will pray for both of you. God Bless You.

Only dogs give unconditional love, parents expect you to behave a certain way, do certain things. Daddy does sound like a jerk, but please do not preach at him, he is your elder, does not need you to instruct him.

Well, I think religion is the biggest plague of humankind, so you won't get any sympathy from me. Sorry.

He's trying to turn you into an adult. I'm sure he'd be equally incensed of you still believed in Santa Claus.
