Well, there's nothing bad about arbitrage betting if you can find good bets and do the math correctly. The problem is you're never going to find good bets at live casinos, so you're tied to using online sportsbooks, where it's still nearly impossible. And if you use online sportsbooks, you're always making risky bets since many of them are not reputable, plus you have to factor in deposit and withdrawal fees you may have to pay when transferring money. And don't sign up for pay services that claim to find arbitrage bets for you. They hardly ever work, and even when they do, the online casinos catch on (because of the huge influx of bets) and change the odds immediately, so chances are you won't get a chance to place a bet.

Unfortunately, arbitrage betting usually falls into the 'too good to be true' category. But if you have any luck with it, more power to you.

Arbitrage betting is impossible in large casinos and off-track betting. In England where bookies are individual entreprenneurs at the track, you can shop around for odds and may find an occasional arbitrage situation, but it won't last long and you won't be able to get anyone to take a large bet. The fundamental problem is communication..... you need real time communication to compare available odds and in all legal venues, that's not permitted.

You might find an illegal situation where different bookies will give you different odds on point spreads, but aside from issues with the law, you are very likely to get ripped off. If you do it often, you'll probably get a knife in the neck.
