The veins are clotted blood, are you not suppose to unclot the blood?

The veins are not clotted blood by any way. However, one of the severe cases may have the pooled blood clotted along the veins.

This is how you get a varicose veins:
"Veins carry blood from the body back to the heart, and have one-way valves that prevent blood from flowing backward. If the valves become weakened, some blood can remain in the vein, causing the vein to enlarge and
bulge. Larger congested veins found mostly in the legs are commonly called varicose veins."

You are right- Vitamin K is an important element in blood clotting otherwise you will be bleeding easily without it. However, varicose vein problem is mainly a problem of the vein itself and not with the blood. Thus, the Vit. K creams are used for the fact that the Vitamin K is also an essential nutrient for the integrity of the skin, and for the repair of ulcerated veins.

First of all, varicose veins are NOT clotted blood. They are visible veins, and they are carrying unclotted blood back toward your heart.

Next, Vitamin K acts as a cofactor for some of the clotting factors that you need to clot normally. Too much clotting is a bad thing - deep venous thrombosis, heart attacks and strokes can occur. Your clotting system is something that works within a pretty narrow range of what is and is not normal. It's very complicated - if we had to think about clotting, we'd never be able to do it!

Treatment for varicose veins is to either remove them surgically, or inject them with soething that WILL make them clot off (sclerosing agents). You can use sclerosing agents only on the tiny veins.

Hope that helps.

What you have read is bunk! Vitamin K has NOTHING to do with plaque buildup within arteries! Vitamink K can reverse the effects of a blood thinner called Coumadin, so if someone is bleeding from having too high a level of Coumadin, then Vit K is part of the treatment for that.

Vitamin K cream is used to help bruising, though no thorough studies on this. It is not a treatment for varicose veins. Nothing you can apply topically can get rid of those veins. You can do sclerotherapy or if afraid of needles, laser.
