he died from a smoking disease at age 72. On his death bed he repented and accepted Christ.
Now I ask you. I've been a Christian all these years and it won't seem fair to see him in heaven with me.
What is so fair about that?

I can't believe the answers I'm getting here. I thought most Christians here were far too judgmental and self-righteous.
I'm obviously wrong and apologize for judging YOU.

Would it be fair to him to see judgmental people there? Wasn't Mary M a prostitute?

Dear fruitcake,

It is assumed that if your uncle had continued living that His life after His repentance would be quite different. Only God knows the sincerity of his heart when he made his profession of faith in Christ on his deathbed.

Jesus actually addresses a similar issue in one of his parables. Where a fieldowner offers a worker wages (which are more than fair) and later hires another worker later in the day and decides to pay him the same as the first man. The point of the parable is that what God gives us is more than fair- and although God may seem to have given your uncle more than you- i'm sure that He has given to you more than others- and we should have gratitude for what we received from God.

The truth is none of us deserve to be in Heaven. Again i know it must have been painful to see all the hurt and terrible things that your uncle did- but again if his repentance was genuine- he had a true change of heart than he just did make it and that's something to be thankful for.

Hope that helps. Kindly,

Nickster

Well, its up to God to decide if he really believed at the last minute. If he did, then you'll probably see him there(cos you have no say about who goes to Heaven and who doesn't), but if he was faking, then too bad. Besides, why are you saying its not fair? Someone out there may be thinking that you don't deserve to go to Heaven also, so don't judge.

No one said that life is fair, even for those who believe. The point of the Christian faith is love and forgiveness, not judgement. It may not be easy but then, if it was, it would not be a proof of faith. I do not think it is anything you have to worry about as the way we appear in heaven will not necessarily be the same as our appearance here. It is the soul, not the body, that determines us.

only God knows the heart. there are many who try to take advantage of the "get saved at any time" generalization, and I do not believe they make it, kinda like the wedding crasher in Jesus' parable.

it wouldn't be fair to see a lot of people in Heaven or in Hell. but so what? I can't honestly say there are people I want to see in Hell or in Heaven. but simply, I don't decide. we have a very limited sense of fair. God doesn't.

Instead of YOU paying for YOUR sins, Christ died for your sins - What's FAIR about that?

The fact that NOBODY (not your uncle, not me, not you, not Mother Theresa, not Billy Graham, not Charles Manson) is good enough to deserve to go to heaven makes us all equal in God's eyes. In the Pass/Fail test of getting to heaven, we all fail. Christ offers the free gift. Some people accept it early, some late - but we all get paid the same.

Besides, in the true balance of things, we spend ETERNITY in heaven. Whether you were a Christian for twenty seconds on earth or 85 years - compared to eternity neither is noticeable.

I am not a Christian so I would say nothing. He did not live a good life.
I don't believe that acceptance of Jesus is a "get into heaven free ticket" as some I have talked to would make you believe". There is more to faith than a last minute acceptance. Using those guidelines, if Hitler had accepted Jesus right before his death he would be "in the clear". I can't and won't buy that.

Sort of like the parable of the workers, some started in the morning, some started at noon, some in the afternoon and they all got the same wages. If you can figure out why Jesus told that parable, you'll have your answer. If not, you'll have to wait til the next life. Assuming you're storing more treasures in heaven they did (which apparently shouldn't be hard), you will have a better position there than he does.

"For God so loved the world that He
gave His only begotten Son, that whoever
believes in Him should not perish but have
everlasting life." John 3:16 (New King James Version Of
The Holy Bible)

it's not about fairness. if we got what we truly deserve, we would all spend eternity in hell.
it's about the love and grace that God has for every one of us.
Jesus Christ paid the price for all of us, so that we could spend eternity in Heaven if we will trust Him as our Lord and Personal Savior.
putting my trust in Jesus is the most important decision I've ever made or ever will make.

God Bless You Sweetheart.
And Remember, You Are Loved.

MY, opinion is there are limits. I have expressed this a lot on here and got beaten up about it. I know even though I have asked forgiveness and accepted Jesus I am going to Hell. Too much of my life has been marred in "sin" that I know there is no way back from. So my answer is it is fair, you reap what you sow and no matter how much penance you do it does not matter. God bless.
