The only preconceived judgment is...that you're a Christian...all I can say is what the majority is...is me being an Atheist give you a preconceived judgment on me? Maybe, maybe not. I hope not though. So it depends on the person but the only judgment that I have is that you're a Christian, if you're one of the bad or good ones is still in question, since I don't know you well enough. Hope this helps.

1. Depends on cultural beliefs and on how others see biblical what a Christian truly is suppose to be.
2. There should be no judgment; if you are living a righteous and Holy life in the way you know best. Only if God convicts you of something you are doing that He disagrees with and then this is His judgment. To line behaviors up with God's word can also be a judgment. If we know to do good and do it not, then it is a sin unto us.
3. God will let you know through his son Jesus Christ the Holy Spirit. His Spirit that lives within you will let you feel an uncomfortableness when you go do something that is wrong or when you do good you will have complete peace with the choice you have made.

I hope this is what you were looking for.

In some people, yeah. As to what that judgment would be, It depends on the person. Some non-Christians think of Christians as bible thumping ,profanity avoiding, self-righteous, sexual prudes (don't forget the authors intro to "The Case for Christ") ,and of course, with so many millions of people who are or think they are Christians, you are going to be prejudged by some folks from that quarter, too. There are a lot of Christian-held misconceptions about what a Christian is. Some Christians like Old Testament Jews, tend to feel a little self-righteous from time to time, and get a little cynical about the majority.

Not to me. People sling the word "Christian" all over the place.. How do I know you're really a Christian? Have I seen the fruit of the Spirit in you? But to an atheist you are certainly a Christian if you say you are, especially if you're a bad example of a Christian. And because they believe whatever they hear, and because most professing Christians are hypocrites, an atheist will most likely prejudge you as a phony. Or a mindless idiot. Because they have chosen not to see or believe the truth. Instead they turn to the world, which will always inevitably let them down.

Most people think of Christians as hypocritical people who are quick to judge (in which case they are the hypocrites, since they are so quick to judge). There's just been so much crap in the past from people who called themselves Christians but really probably weren't, that people these days want pretty much nothing to do with us Christians, and they basically insult us left and right pretty much whenever we say something "Christian". They also, for some reason, assume that we know nothing about evolution and insult us even more pretty much whenever we say that evolution is a bunch of crap and that there's plenty of evidence in nature for creation (and there is). Oh, well. We can do nothing but pray. Jesus did say that we'd face all kinds of opposition. Let's pray, shall we? :)

*EDIT*
In our prayers, we need to ask God to help us not to be judgmental, even when others judge us. I think that's another reason why people are so quick to judge us - so many others who call themselves Christians judge others left and right. We need to try harder not to do that.

Hi Set Apart,
Really great question!
Honestly, yes, it does. My first split second reaction is tightening up, thinking 'Oh crap! Here we go again!" and preparing myself to tell you that I don't talk about religion nor politics with my friends. And in my real life, I don't. But after the initial reaction I wait and listen to see if you are going to abuse me with trying to spread the word or convert me. If I am not abused then I look for who you are as a person and try to find something in common we can relate to each other on. I have many friends of all walks of life and we adore each other for we do not ever discuss religion! It causes wars.
What I find most irritating is the fact that those converters never even ask me one single question about my religion. Not one. None are even interested in finding out the truth about Pagan Witches -they've already deemed me wrong and then commit to pushing their belief onto me. How abusive is that? How single minded is that? How invasive is that? How rude is that? They just come, holier than thou, and try to degrade me for my beliefs. WRONG!
So when a Christian lets me see who they really are, behind the mask of religion, I am always interested in getting to know them.
Blessed Be

Am I the sole person who would not examine solutions via people who don't have a touch blue guy subsequent to them? besides, re: your question - the greater severe something is the fewer severe I take it. I certainly have an inverted physique of suggestions. Funerals might desire to be humorous, dammit! you may desire to chortle approximately getting fired. besides the undeniable fact that, dropping the taxi receipt and dreading having to justify why you may desire to get reimbursed $15 notwithstanding in case you have no longer have been given a receipt - that's what keeps me up at night.

Others will most often have a preconceived notion about you no matter what. Not just those who are considered worldly (not saved) but many of the people with whom you serve, attend church, pray and learn about Christ will also have preconceptions about you. The firery darts aimed at you from a wicked heart are not always from outside of the church. I say this because it is the truth, and to prepare you for a walk (life) in Christ; not just to be cruel or anything, but if you want info. then know what to expect from all sides. That is the wisest way to do things. The Bible says that we perish for lack of knowledge (I'm not the greatest of quoters' but you get the message I hope) this not only is speaking of knowledge of the word, but also knowledge in what we can look forward to in life. "Did not the spiritual leaders of Jesus' time work against him and even call for his death? Did not a few of his own deciples deny him and one even gave him up to his enemies?" Because of this I advise you to stay more focused on God's will for you than anything else. So preconception comes from any and persons all at any given time.
Now, that judgement may be from a variety of reasons why someone would think christians behave or think in a particular way. Some are valid and others not. For instance, your may be at a block party where everyone is drinking alcohol. You request nonalcoholic beverages throughout the time you stay because you feel that for you it is a sin to partake of any mind altering substance for non medicinal purposes. There will be some who consider you a party pooper, or something, because you don't do like everyone else. Others may feel uncomfortable around you because they are out of the box, so to speak, and you remind them of their short comings spiritually. "Don't make the mistake of preaching or trying to teach your ways in a situation like that unless asked to do so or unless specifically urged by God to do so." Many christians fail the world, by doing that very thing and alienating well meaning folk. Concern yourself with God's judgement and that alone.
As for why things are that way, I would advise you to refrain from asking - why - when pondering the happenings in the world (or your lifetime). The effort to know why all the time is way too taxing in time and energy. God knows and that's why enough, unless and until he gives you the reason why. Just believe that you will understand by and by (or later on). Frankly, I don't fully understand why I do some of the things I do, so to know why others do what they do is farther beyond my grasp.
So do your best to do right each and every day. Don't be too hard on yourself when you don't get it right because all have sin and fall short of the glory of God; pray for forgiveness and move on because there are more than enough folk ready and willing to attack you for you inefficiency so don't do that to yourself. Don't be the kind of person to point out a splinter on the next man's shoulder and ignore the plank which rests upon your own. Many times doing or speaking the truth will be difficult, but that's ok, just remember that your final destination is heaven and it will be more wonderful than anything you can imagine. May God's grace and mercy be you, so go with God and be blessed...

Not really, I am also a Christian but my personal beliefs vary from many others. The ones I feel sorry for are those, on all sides, who feel the need to judge, criticize, and degrade others. No matter what your faith is, it is the person you are that makes the difference.

That of course is my own opinion, I have always tried to judge people on the way they treat me. If they treat me with respect I respect them, if they do not, well, I tend to ignore them.

If you are a Christian then I would expect to you be respectful of others and not to have prejudices built on the race or creed of others. To follow the teachings of Jesus you have to care about others, if you do not, then you are not a Christian.

My belief is those who do evil in the name of Christ are not Christian, those who do good but do not believe are not evil. If you believe in the final judgement, we are ultimately judged on the type of person we are and how we lived our lives, to the betterment of others or to their degradation.

Yes it does, different people will have different opinions. As for me my preconceived notion is bible-thumping, loud mouthed, know-it-all. Sad to say it but that is my first impression of the word. What is worse is I consider myself a Christian as well, and it just made me realize that is probably the first impression people get when i say anything about my faith.. God bless.
