Who says God isn't blamed for tragedies? I usually see it the other way around: people take personal credit for what is good in their life, but when things go bad they blame God. Do these people consider that God could have also been behind the good too?

Religious people are guilty of this too, so it is in no way intended as an attack on Atheists or Agnostics.

Man justifies himself, firstly, because he does not want to acknowledge that he is even partially to blame for the evil in the world. He does not realise that he is endowed with godlike freedom. He sees himself as merely a thing of this world. God allows us to choose right from wrong. If He interfered, then where would be our free will? There is no good or easy answer when tragedies occur. When man sinned, that perfection was spoiled and all of our environment was tainted. The fact is, we live in a world where evil abounds. God does NOT make people sick; or do evil and God does NOT want people to suffer. We can see this by looking at the life of Jesus. He healed the sick. He CURED people. He did not make them sick! The Bible teaches that there will be a time when He will end this world as we know it. In heaven, there will be no more death, sadness, pain, sickness, or suffering of any kind. Jesus said, "In this world, you will have tribulation." Evil forces attack us and cause much suffering in an attempt to get people to blame God and turn away from Him. God is not the cause of any suffering in this world, Satan is! To blame God for evil is foolish, because it actually causes us to follow the one who IS truly responsible for pain and problems.
Romans 8:18: "For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth being compared with the glory that is about to be revealed to us!"
1 Peter 4:12: "Do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you, which comes upon you for your testing, as though some strange thing were happening to you. But to the degree that you share the sufferings of Christ, keep on rejoicing." And verse 19 says: "Let those who suffer ... entrust their souls to a faithful Creator. . ."

What do you get credit for?

God is not the author of confusion(1Corinthians14:33)
God is not a man that he should lie(Mark 12:14)
Every good and perfect gift comes from up above....(James 1:17)

People want to blame God for everything as if they or the devil don't exist. Someone has BLINDED them. Think again. And just be accountable for things you bring on yourself. He also made everyone with free will but no-one's complaining about that.

If my interpretation of the Bible is anything to go by, God should be blamed for all the bad stuff and none of the good.

I mean, he didn't half interfere a lot when things were pretty much okay before.

Like Jesus, for example. Here's us with a real good saviour who's just had a resurrection, and what does God go and do, three days after?

Takes our saviour away for good.

I mean, Jesus was immortal, right? He could have still been here now, and a lot more people would follow Him.

Just my thoughts...

I address this on another question. God is Sovereign - over everything, over everyone - there is nothing that God is not over. If you view Him like this - He is the Potter - we are clay. The clay does not tell the Potter what to do - the Potter shapes, molds the clay. God can bring judgment upon the world now and in the afterlife - you choose. God is good - there is no evil in Him - it is against His character. I hopes some of this helps. If you want to know God - you can have a personal relationship with Him and His Son Jesus Christ - it is so easy and then when you do - judgment passes over you because God looks at you through Jesus - no more judgment on the saved. Blessings dear one and I pray you find Truth - Jesus Christ - follow Him - He is SO good!!!!

I was just think this a second ago when a person asked "Today in an earthquake, God killed hundreds of people in Peru..should we praise him?". But anyways, this is one of the problems with God being all-powerful and all-loving simultaneously.

God should be praised through good times and bad, because everything good comes from him. That's what makes hell so horrible - it's complete separation from God.

The world is corrupt because we live here. Why should God be blamed for our turning away and inviting sin? (Even natural disasters occur because of the Fall.)

The Bible explains everything, People also forget about the Devil. God has a plan, but since the Bible is just a "myth" in some peoples eyes- I won't ask you to read it.
