I am not sure that Stewart is the best driver, even though I am huge Stewart fan. The reason Gordon is so far ahead is because he had a good beginning of the year. In the second half of the season is when Stewart comes alive. For the past 4 races Stewart has been number one. Stewart has the team, sponsorship, and money behind him besides being just an awsome driver.

I think that Tony has better focus than any other driver in the cup series. Sometimes it sort of gets him in a bit of trouble since when he is in the mood, he seems to forget who is a friend versus a foe but he is determined to get to the checkered flag first. It will be interesting to see how he reacts to Kyle Busch as a teammate.

He has great driving skills but lacks the patience and self control necessary to reach his full potential. He is NOT the best NASCAR driver there is, he didn't even make the chase last year. Jimmie Johnson has NEVER finished worse than 5th in the standings and has SMOKED Tony head to head since he's been racing full time in the Nextel Cup Series (2002). He beats him (and every other driver) in wins, top 5s, top 10s and average rank over the last 5 years.

He is on a streak right now for sure, but I wouldnt say he is the best in NASCAR right now. Not a Gordon fan by any stretch but from his points lead alone...you really cant dispute it

Tony is on a hot streak right now.. Jeff Gordon has won more championships and is the current leader.. Tony is a great driver but at this time Jeff is better..
