I personally don't agree with getting your kids a hotel room for prom night. A lot of parents probably feel their kids are safer there cause a lot of their friends will be hanging out in the room too and nothing will happen. Unfotunatly these parents don't realize that some teenagers will have sex in front of their friends and not even care. I would say that if your child is going to prom then let their date sleep over at your house after the afterprom. That way you know your kid is safe have your child come to your room and tell you they are home, and then go sleep with some close friends or with their date on the couch or in separate bedrooms. That way you can check on them, but usually after prom and afterprom parties get out so late that the teens will just fall asleep anyway. But yes, parents who get their kids a hotel room are basically giving their kids permission to have sex on their dime.

I don't think it's a bad idea. At least you'll know where your child is. If they don't party at the hotel room, you should understand that they'll just party somewhere else - where they are won't stop them from doing what they want to do.

The condoms are an excellent idea.

Also, prom night is only 1 night out of 365 days in their school year.

If you are really that concerned, without a doubt, speak with your child prior to the night and express your concerns and/or fears. Be honest with them and they'll be honest with you.

Yikes! Definitely not! Parents should protect their children and teach them right from wrong. To get them a hotel room on prom night is just asking for trouble and definitely sending the wrong message to their kids.

No it is totally wrong for a parent to get hotel rooms for kids for prom. Kids should go home as soon as prom is over. That's what Idid. Parent's shouldn't be giving their kids condoms either. I'm teaching my children to wait till they are married for sex. Giving teenagers condoms is irresponsible. Your're giving them the idea that sex is casual and has nothing to do with love and commitment which you couldn't possibly have unless you are happily married.

Um....no. No kid of mine will be caught dead in a hotel room on prom night or any other night for that matter. I'll just extend her curfew an hour or 2 on prom night.

it doesnt really matter if the parent buys it or not because if they are determined to do something then im 99.9% positive they will find a way. plus by senior year you can get one with out needing your parents. all you can do is talk to them and let them out in the world and hope that with all wil be okay. we can teach right from wrong but cannot make the choice. and some times trying to prevent things only pushes them harder

I think prom is out of control. Its just a dance!!! in 2 yrs it won't matter who wore what or went with who or where you were. In the end its bad food, loud music, and all the same cliques you try to avoid every day of high school.

Personally I dont think its right. I think exactly what you think...grandkids...they need to wait till they are married or at least till they are old and mature enough that if something does happen they are old enough to make a wise decision!!
