There is no difference. Christianity is monotheistic, and the Trinity is a core doctrinal belief of Christianity. Trinity is montheism, fully revealed.

Strictly speaking, monotheism is a belief in one God and the trinity is a "Godhead" of the father, son and holy spirit. However, Christians state they are monotheists because those three "beings" are in one God and make up one God, therefore they claim to be monotheists.

The trinity is often likened to the "Chicken Egg" in that the "Egg" fresh from the "Bird" is 1 Object. However if U were to just take a bite of it, U would soon learn that it is composed of 1 part shell (outer membrane), 1 part albumen (white) & 1 part yoke (yellow). Each part is under the Categorical Term "Egg", but each are just "Different" from each other, which is why Most Christians refer to God in the "Inter-Changeable Terms", God the Father, Jesus the Son of God & the Holy Spirit of God, but Believe God to be a "Monotheistic Deity". Unlike many Other "Religions" that have Totally Separate "gods" they Worship! John

Monotheism is the belief in only one God as the supreme being.

The Trinity is the word that represents God as three person in one God. This is still a monontheisic belief because God is still only one, but consists of three persons/beings. It is not something meant to be completely understood, but accepted by faith

Think of the shamrock: one plant, with with seperate leaves.

The Trinity which the majority of Chrisitans believe is Father/Son/Holy Spirit are one person but are all equally seperate. Kinda like the shamrock, they're all from the same clover but they're sperate leaves as well(I stole that from St. Patrick).

Matter exists in three forms (Solid, liquid and gas) - take H2O as an example. In the solid state we call it ICE, in the liquid state it's WATER and in the gaseous state it's STEAM (water vapour). It is the same in either state - H2O - and conforms to the same chemical and physical parameters. As God created all things it would seem reasonable to me that He Himself is the blueprint for all things so the Trinity is God in three forms but the same one GOD.

Mono means "one". "Theism" means "to do with God".
Mono theism means that you believe in one God and one only.

Trinity means three of something. "The Trinity" , as in Christianity, means that there are three beings involved in the one God: the aspect of the Father, the aspect of the Son and the aspect of the Holy Spirit. They're separate but one. It's a mystery but it's true. I hope that helps.
