There are many theories. Gradualism (slow evolution), Punctuated Equilibria (fast evolution), and Theistic Evolution (caused by God). If it is true, why are there so many theories?

PaulCrp - Please tell me how they do not defer...One is slow, One is Fast and One is caused by God. WoW! I certainly see a difference myself...

Barricade - If you will notice, I am not getting very many answers from them. Check out the question I asked to the Atheists...I have only gotten one from them. Seems to me that they don't have nearly as much to say about their beliefs or unbeliefs as they do when they are critizing our faith.

Since there are difference mechanisms within the theory of evolution (natural selection, genetic drift, and gene flow) both fast and slow evolution are really the same. The theory of evolution encompasses both. Theistic evolution (science with a magical fairy added) is not part of any current theory.

The three items you mentioned are not "different theories of evolution". They are simnply different aspects of evolution. I happen to accept all three. None of them is opposed in any way to the others. God is the source of all natural processes. Evolution, one such natural process, typically occurs relatively gradually, but occasionally seems to move in faster "spurts" (geologically speaking - such a "spurt" might still be several million years). So, where's the problem?

Because its so easy to make one up. For example, if a day of Gods Creation was 660 million years in the phsyical Universe, then it would correspond to the slow evolution and major geological periods on Earth. The major point of disagrement with Science and the Christian God doing the creating would then largely disappear

It is a common mistake to assume Evolution is wrong because there are different versions of Evolution. There are many denominations of Christianity, after all, but that doesn't mean Christianity isn't true, right?

Science thrives on people disagreeing and trying to prove the other wrong. As a result, our scientific knowledge is constantly being challenged, updated and upgraded.

A theory is a theory until it is proven. Evolution (any of them) as well as Christanity, cannot be proven to everyone. So there will always be many different theories to evolution as there are many religions.
