The Law of Causality states: Every effect must have a cause.....so, was there a cause for people and if so, what is it?

Atheists....so you DO believe in evolution. And here all along I thought you didn't, thus you violate the Law of Causality.

I don't know. But I'm not going to say that it must be god just because I don't know. I don't really need to know and I'm comfortable with that.

I make no claim to be an atheist, but answer at your invitation.
I'm not sure I fully subscribe to the concept of 'causality'. While on the surface of reality (the part we observe), causality may seem valid, it most likely doesn't hold true for the unobserved. The observers influence (and limit) their own reality. Thus, there seems to be a basic, comical 'absurdity' to reality..

As far as I can tell, people seem to exist for the sole purpose of amusing and annoying God and other people (and perhaps sometimes, vice-versa). It seems to be strictly a 'sentimental' relationship (not a 'conditional' one), and not much else.
I have not been able to simplify this any further. Social interactions seem basically to be a struggle for attention... (or, 'control'), and this is what God claims to want the most, from His people. He gets angriest when He is ignored too much, and for too long... much like a bunch of children we might know...

Yet another product of public education.

Your bastardization of causality aside, the "cause" for people would be simple monomers. Chemistry and natural selection took it from there, and the rest, as they say, is history. And you're an idiot. They don't say that, just me. Actually, I bet a lot of them say that.

You're assuming that people are a "stock" item in the universe, we are not. We are what is possible. You also can't look at sum of the pieces, you have to look at the pieces themselves, everything from the oxygen we breath, the water we're mostly made of, the electromagnetic spectrum we see in, gravity, the cycles of moon (no joke), the length of our day and how it has changed, and a billion other things. When you look at how each and all these thing interacted, you will then be able to see the causes.

"Cause" for people? I'm not sure I understand exactly what you mean. Do you mean how did we get started?
We don't know yet. But just because we don't know yet, doesn't mean that we're just going to credit some invisible, magical, supernatural being with "causing" it. Just making up an answer for something you don't understand is not the intelligent way to go about things. If we all did that, then we'd still be living in clay huts with a life expectancy of about 40.

The same cause as for all other species: Natural selection over time based on environmental pressures and random mutations.

And by the way, answering this question took about as much courage as buttoning my shirt.

By the way, Madam Causality Police, what caused God?

Athiest myself. Maybe it was because the Earth wept to the Lord because it neded to be polluted. Is that the answer you want so badly? Give me a break. Mankind is the product of evolution.

Sure. Evolution. Filling a natural niche in our environment.

Oh, read a book. You ask a question that can't be answered in 1000 words or less. Then you are smug because "they can't answer the question!" You don't want to know. You want to play games.

It never occurs to you that we don't find you or your question important enough to answer. Further, we see through your childish games.

I like moondriven's answer, I'll stick with that. Plus, why does there HAVE to be a reason for everything? Why can't things just be, just because?
